Not at the moment, but I was previously and I didn't have any issues with the company. Switching (both to and from) was seamless.

Make sure that you take a meter reading on the day your supply is due to switch over, preferably backed up with a photo; while it's unlikely that you'll have any problems, it makes it a little bit easier to resolve any dispute about final readings further down the line. I would suggest that you do this even if you have a smart meter.

Are you signing up through a third party that's offering some kind of incentive, such as a cashback offer? If so, make sure that you take screenshots and retain any emails or other correspondence until such incentives are paid. I haven't personally experienced any problems, but I have had to deal with a few in my time working in the industry.

Been with them since the Npower days - no complaints whatsoever here.

(I'm currently on their EV tariff which enables me to charge my car for 9p/kWh between midnight and 6am)

Just over a year with Eon and no major issues except their systems are a bit laggy, direct debits take several days to get credited to accounts while customer meter readings are billed rapidly. If they need your reading, do it about 4 days after the direct debit to stay solidly in credit.

I was, though, very impressed by an automatic reduction of my direct debit as my credit had built up near the end of my last fix.

Switching to my new fixed tariff (and, unusually for me, not changing supplier) needed me to up the direct debit to the level needed to build credit for winter. Very easy to do though.

They've messed up my billing several times, creating duplicate accounts from the same address. I'm moving away from them in November. Just an anecdote, you may well not have the same experience!

I was with EON for about eight years. I never found them helpful or particularly good. Very expensive too, 2 years ago I moved to EDF on a much better deal and recently renewed my Tariff for a year and despite increases I'm in credit and pay less than £40 per month for electricity.

No complaints here. Their system recently handled my meter rolling over from 99999 to 00000 without any issues (me supplying readings).

EON-Next here. Largely fine; no billing errors etc., (yet). It took them longer than it should have to establish proper connection with my Smart Meter (installed by another provider some time ago) and put me onto the split tariff I had signed up for.

Separately, my already low fixed overnight rate was properly and immediately reduced when the govt. announced the blanket per-unit cut a while back.

Whether I'd recommend - and indeed stick with them when my fixed term ends will depend on overnight rates. I'll pick the best I can get, of course. Having a storage battery means I use practically no daytime (peak) rate power.

Their app isn't as up-to-date with consumption figures as it might be - usually a day or so behind. But I can't complain about the billing or rates.

E-on’s been OK for me. The electric smart meter is impossible for me to read (very high up in a cupboard) and nobody’s ever been to check it. I’m on dual fuel with gas.

Yeah I have been since 2021, I've had some pretty good fixed deals from them that have somewhat insulated me from the various energy crisis we've had over the last few years and I've had no issues with then.

If I told you the full story of how I tried to get a credit refund from Eon recently you would be reading it for hours.

Basically

• I made four attempts to get the credit back from an empty property that had >£500 in credit.
• All four attempts didn't succeed, despite all of them telling me (twice by email) that the money "would be in my account" in 7-10 days.
• On none of those occasions did they contact me. When I phoned back I was fobbed off with excuses, one of which was that I hadn't sent meter readings in (I had, more than once).
• Eventually had to raise a complaint. Still nothing.
• Then the property sold and I ended the contract. Got an email saying the money would be in my account in 7-10 days. Guess what?
• Raised another complaint and got £40 added to the credit because they'd failed to refund in time.
• Some 3 weeks after that I didn't get the money refunded to my account, but was sent a cheque!

I got the money nearly 5 months after my first phone call.

The irony is that I hadn't had a problem with them before that, bar a raising of my monthly DD to a nonsensical amount during the energy crisis which was solved with a phone call.

Oh yeah, bar a protracted smart meter story which was more funny than annoying, but highlighted that their internal communications are not very good.

I am with Sainsburys energy which is a trading name of E.On. I did have an issue when my gas meter stopped working last year. Once the new one was installed they "estimated" my usage at an amount that was 3 times the amount for the corresponding period of the year before, and tried to claim with a straight face that they estimate of having used a third more gas in July than October of the same year was accurate.

I'd take a reading on the day you change suppliers to be safe.

My smart gas meter stopped working for about 6 months, they sent someone around as they noticed my usage had dropped. Nothing came of it and obviously I didnt say anything.

I've got issues with my smart water meter , but not in my favour. Basically its 4ft underground and submerged in water, but they reckon they can still get a reading by driving past (apparantly thats how they do it) but I beg to diifer.
