I think the licence fee is obscene, paying a lot of money for 3 channels I don't watch, let the people that want to watch em pay, and those that don't get better value for money.

Indeed, and when you don't pay the licence (say, you just rely on the internet or catch-up) you'd be considered as the most wanted criminal in the country according to TV Licensing!

Adverts for fragrances are usually more prevalent around Christmas but I don't mind them, if only because of the eye-candy factor (the Jean-Paul Gaultier ad in particular...)

Vax is doing my head in just now, mainly because their adverts are so long.
But what does that mean... But what does that mean... But what does.... You b**dy well know what it means because you've got the script in front of you. Grrrr! I'm glad im not the only one who finds that irritating. In the same vein, so does the Dyson "Look at us, Look it's a Dyson, It's now got fancy lasers in your vacuum cleaner" adverts.

I saw a reference to cheap looking adverts earlier - the Just Eat one is equally grating. Not so much the ones featuring Snoop Dog - because it's rather laughable how his career has fallen, but the irritating text to speak ones "You Crazy xxx xxx xxx xxx". It's as irritating as some of the text to speak announcements various TOCs use, sounding so badly put together and as if they've been knocked up in 5 minutes before the homework is due in.

Shows how bad an advert is when you can't remember what it is selling but you can remember the song that plays in the background, which in this case is "Stand by me" by Oasis.

If that's recently, it's for the Halifax bank.

“It’s a people thing” says a bank who’s main focus is financial services. Between the Halifax and the NatWest’s “Tomorrow Begins Today”, what is it with Banks and meaningless advertising slogans?

Possibly they are using the same "creative" advertising agencies who specialise in "meaningless" storyline adverts in adverts for expensive perfumes.

"Deposit money with us and we'll pay you 0.1%, borrow money from us and we'll charge you 39.9%" is probably too tough a sell.

The most humorous one at the moment is for the LNER on the local ITV channel.
The closest station to us is Nuneaton, don't see to many LNER trains on the West Coast Main Line, so a complete waste of money, obviously the advertisers don't know which franchise goes through which television area.

There's a Colgate advert at the moment online, it's only about six seconds long but the music on it is so irritating (yet inexplicably catchy) that the moment I see red at the start of an ad, I hit the mute button.

I am post religious but it seems a bit out of order to play Ave Maria as background music to Warburtons bread advert

Didn't take long for this one from SumUp (providers of card readers for small businesses) to start grating...

The Lloyds Bank “By Your Side for 250 years” adverts of the last year or two. A nice shot of a horse on a beach/meadow/woodland but does anyone actually believe that this bunch of corporate tossers cares enough to be by their side? I can imagine the marketing department having a session of mass masturbatory congratulation once they’d got that video in the can.

Especially given the branch closures announced this week.

They’re just self massaging their egos.

The Smart Meter averts featuring "Einstein" are really starting to get on my nerves. Example below:

At least they've given up with the claim that it will save me money. If you just listen to that ad, to me, it sounds like one of those equally annoying meerkats.

Any advert with Scofield, I regard him as rather odious.
He's just in so many, aren't their any other actors?
Phillip Schofield is one of our most loved TV presenters, having spent nearly 40 years hosting some of the biggest shows on screen.
That's what it says on his website so modesty is another of his many attributes. I would actually question 'actor', the only part he ever seems to play is himself (a rather deferential, 'nice' chap who wants to be your friend.)

Speaking as one with thirty years experiance as a Senior Manager prior to retirement, I find the lack of logic in the term "Bingo like a boss" quite annoying.
Not every advert has to be logical! You are taking this far too seriously! :)

like a boss

WHAT DOES LIKE A BOSS MEAN?
To do something like a boss is to do it with stylish confidence or authority. This can be applied, tongue in cheek, even to fairly mundane tasks.

Even in my dotage, I still find the application of your explanation hard to fathom when it concerns playing a game of bingo...

The woman in the TV advert is like no boss that I have ever seen. She would be ideal for the "before" image in a Weightwatchers TV advertisement.

I was in the ITV West Country region recently and it was being broadcast there. Avanti West Coast had an ad recently on UTV in Northern Ireland.

Also GWR are the weekend sponsor of the Meridian East weather, and as far as I know GWR don't run to Kent and Essex!
