I think the licence fee is obscene, paying a lot of money for 3 channels I don't watch, let the people that want to watch em pay, and those that don't get better value for money.
Indeed, and when you don't pay the licence (say, you just rely on the internet or catch-up) you'd be considered as the most wanted criminal in the country according to TV Licensing!I think the licence fee is obscene, paying a lot of money for 3 channels I don't watch, let the people that want to watch em pay, and those that don't get better value for money.
But what does that mean... But what does that mean... But what does.... You b**dy well know what it means because you've got the script in front of you. Grrrr! I'm glad im not the only one who finds that irritating. In the same vein, so does the Dyson "Look at us, Look it's a Dyson, It's now got fancy lasers in your vacuum cleaner" adverts.Adverts for fragrances are usually more prevalent around Christmas but I don't mind them, if only because of the eye-candy factor (the Jean-Paul Gaultier ad in particular...)
Vax is doing my head in just now, mainly because their adverts are so long.
Shows how bad an advert is when you can't remember what it is selling but you can remember the song that plays in the background, which in this case is "Stand by me" by Oasis.
If that's recently, it's for the Halifax bank.
Possibly they are using the same "creative" advertising agencies who specialise in "meaningless" storyline adverts in adverts for expensive perfumes.“It’s a people thing” says a bank who’s main focus is financial services. Between the Halifax and the NatWest’s “Tomorrow Begins Today”, what is it with Banks and meaningless advertising slogans?
"Deposit money with us and we'll pay you 0.1%, borrow money from us and we'll charge you 39.9%" is probably too tough a sell.“It’s a people thing” says a bank who’s main focus is financial services. Between the Halifax and the NatWest’s “Tomorrow Begins Today”, what is it with Banks and meaningless advertising slogans?
Why?I am post religious but it seems a bit out of order to play Ave Maria as background music to Warburtons bread advert
It's a well known piece of classical music. Using Dvorak's 9th symphony didn't do Hovis any harm.I am post religious but it seems a bit out of order to play Ave Maria as background music to Warburtons bread advert

At least they've given up with the claim that it will save me money. If you just listen to that ad, to me, it sounds like one of those equally annoying meerkats. The Smart Meter averts featuring "Einstein" are really starting to get on my nerves. Example below:
He's just in so many, aren't their any other actors?Any advert with Scofield, I regard him as rather odious.
He must have a good agent. He's just in so many, aren't their any other actors?

That's what it says on his website so modesty is another of his many attributes. I would actually question 'actor', the only part he ever seems to play is himself (a rather deferential, 'nice' chap who wants to be your friend.)Phillip Schofield is one of our most loved TV presenters, having spent nearly 40 years hosting some of the biggest shows on screen.
Not every advert has to be logical! You are taking this far too seriously!Speaking as one with thirty years experiance as a Senior Manager prior to retirement, I find the lack of logic in the term "Bingo like a boss" quite annoying.

like a boss
WHAT DOES LIKE A BOSS MEAN?
To do something like a boss is to do it with stylish confidence or authority. This can be applied, tongue in cheek, even to fairly mundane tasks.
Even in my dotage, I still find the application of your explanation hard to fathom when it concerns playing a game of bingo...Not every advert has to be logical! You are taking this far too seriously!

I was in the ITV West Country region recently and it was being broadcast there. Avanti West Coast had an ad recently on UTV in Northern Ireland. There's a Colgate advert at the moment online, it's only about six seconds long but the music on it is so irritating (yet inexplicably catchy) that the moment I see red at the start of an ad, I hit the mute button.
At the moment, the Dominos advert is by far the worst. Not just me, then?![]()
