There was a web story a couple of years ago about prize draw postal entries having been unfairly excluded from these "contests". Suggests that the number of non-postal entries between 2016 and 2019 was maybe some several million.

...in the case of these 41,000 ITV entries they weren’t added to the pool and if you’re not in it, you can’t win it. Apparently, the non-pooled postal entries represented less than 1% of the total entries made to the relevant ITV promotions during the period in question, but that’s beside the point really – any prize draw or competition must be 100% fair.

Budweiser was originally brewed in Czechoslovakia (as was at the time) until the US hijacked it and watered it down. The present day Budvar is the original recipe and is brewed in the present day Czech Republic.

I agree it's sad that US drinks beer carries the name of well respected imported drinks, but what is offered to the masses is an industrial adulterated version. They get away with it because a minority of US citizens ever get as far as Europe to taste the original. I think that Mexican beer sold in the states isn't in such a sorry state, probably owing to it's geographical proximity.
As far as pilsner (in it's generic context) doesn't have a PDO, - probably because German and American 'style' products were already well established when the EU got serious about protection of specialist manufacturers.

Even then they can take some persuading. Once had difficulty convincing some US visitors that Budweiser Budvar was not the Budweiser they were used to avoiding. They did try it, then ordered more.

Yes had that experience. In 1990, I was in Chicago and on an evening out with our hosts, there was so 'English beer' on sale, it was Bass actually. Once they got used to the fact that it wasn't just above freezing temperature, they liked it's strength. We were hosting them then We introduced them to a curry meal, and hung steak. They didn't normally touch the stuff.
It's incredible how over 1/4 billion adults can be hoodwinked into accepting the dross that the food and drink industry chooses to offer them.

The Yves St Laurent Black Opium perfume advert is really annoying with its insipid tune and indecipherable lyrics. It seems to be on every ad break.
There's a whole slew of moronic perfume ads at the moment. Back in the day, you only saw them at Christmas. Now they're on all year round. Arrrrgh!!

Small point of order here please....the Heineken adverts were actually very good and entertaining....thankfully, Farmer Christmas will soon be gone forever....hopefully into a dyke / ditch in the wilds of East Anglia...

The 'poonami' advert with the weird facial expressions. Then the seemingly joyous music at the end because everything is fine because the baby's nappies won't let any mess spill out? Are they supposed to be thrilled that the baby has just s**t itself?

Also, the McDonalds advert where the boy writes a wish list so long it goes out the window. Seems a bit greedy? Thank goodness a visit to McDonalds seems to placate him and save his parents from going heavily into debt to finance his now airbourne present demands.

Another annoying advert for me is the BT one that advertises broadband (for new customers only) at £28 per month, whilst I, as an existing customer, have to pay more than £50 per month (with a CPI + 3.9% increase each year on top of that) <(<(

Yes, it's all very well advertising a £1 million house in the Lake District, but if you were to win that house, would you be able to afford the running costs and council tax, not to mention keep on top of all the repairs and maintenance that would become necessary after the house was a few years old.

I would imagine that sufficient number of people are gullible enough to fall for their slick advertising so that they can make their money from the sum total of all the entries to each prize draw. If they didn't, they wouldn't be doing it.

Maybe consider changing your broadband provider to a cheaper one. ! I changed from BT many years ago which halved my broadband/phone bill.
