Isn't it time we stripped this man of his names completely? Far too much to type.

Henceforth let him be known as AMW.

Indeed the stuff about sex in the Epstein Files is sordid and degrading - it's repellent that these supposed elites have all this influence while sitting discussing 14 year olds or which Russian girl has STDs on their emails. The whole business is grim.

But the other thing is just how much dodgy dealing was also going on; the evidence of Andrew passing confidential government information to potential investors so they could have insider info and invest early is...really damning AND it is an offence here. So I am unsurprised the police have moved to arrest him. I can only imagine Andrew's brief might be looking at whether he can claim he wasn't a "public officer" and defend himself that way.

When you're going after someone like Andrew you want to make sure that you're choosing offences you're extremely confident about. You don't want to mess this up! Plus lets not forget that they got Capone on tax evasion rather than his litany of other crimes.
Absolutely. I can see which facet of Andrew’s behaviour has the greater weight of evidence for arrest currently. Based on that, I wonder what powers the police will seek to mine the email chain from Andrew’s end?

Those type of offences are generally a lot easier to prove in a court of law, see Al Capone and tax evasion.
Also, now that he's been charged with one offence (which they are pretty confident of securing a conviction for) his emails, etc. become fair game for investigation in order to build the case, and if it so happens that they find evidence of additional crimes...

Has he been charged? I can only see he's been arrested so far?

Can I remind everyone that this is now a live investigation, and as such, we all need to be guarded as to what we post,

Personally speaking, I'm hoping that the veil of silence those people maintained, will now be lifted, and some justice can finally be found by the victims,

And Andrew replies ‘my brother owns it’. ;)
Despite the royal precedents mentioned earlier -if anything comes to a criminal court, this will surely be the first formal “Rex vs “Lil’ Bro” under the proper rule of law!

Didn’t Princess Anne get convicted of speeding a couple of times, many years ago? So not actually the first criminal case against a Royal.

She was convicted of failing to control her dog at a magistrates court. However, I'm not sure this would have necessarily involved her being arrested, merely being sent a summons to appear in court.

Apparently neither the King nor Buckingham Palace were made aware of his arrest in advance:

King and Palace not told about Andrew arrest in advance, BBC understands

Neither King Charles nor Buckingham Palace were informed in advance that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was to be arrested today, BBC News understands.

The King released a statement reacting to his brother's arrest a short while ago, which you can read in full here.

Wow, I'm quite impressed. I imagined him to eventually disappear from the headlines and get away with it.

Admittedly this is for misconduct in public office rather than any of the potentially more severe offences.
"more severe offences" - misconduct in public office carries a max sentence of life imprisonment! I get your point entirely (and agree), but important to note that the suspected offence is possibly one of THE most serious/severe there is in terms of the law.

If Andrew is convicted of this offence, there could be an Al Capone-esque outcome here, who was done for tax evasion, not any of the mafia stuff.
