Not like the time I went in to work and made myself a cup of tea. It was a few days after christmas, so nobody had been around since the 24th. I didn't realise the whole milk expired on the 24th too, bearing in mind this was about the 30th now. Poured it in to the tea, put it back in the fridge, and was just about to put the sugar in, then realised there was a load of cheese floating in the top of my tea... then I realised

 Lucky escape for you there, eh Sulzer? ;)

Today was the last day for University in 2008 anyway (although I still have some work to do with Industry Placement applications and a single piece of coursework to get done over the Christmas period). Myself and my friend, Andy, came into Oxford Road and I was going South while he was going north and guess what he gets to travel home in? A freakin' Class 180 "Adelante"....

I shortly got a text from him saying "Haha I've got a fancy train and you're on those sh*tty old ones", referring of course to the class 323. But anyway, after a bit he soon texted me a message: "Stuck at Salford Crescent: Doors won't close".

Most amusing incident I took part in was almost giving a signalman a heart attack after patronising him so much he shouted at me. He shouldn't have been sexist and rude to my friend.

"The 2A08 is complete with tail lamp.....that's on the left as you look from the signalbox."
"AAAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!"

Years ago, in the days when NW - Scotland trains split into Glasgow and Edinburgh portions at Carstairs, we'd just departed Carstairs when American lady opposite said:
'Edinburgh and Glasgow must be quite near other, I guess'
I helpfully replied - 'yes about 45 miles'.
Her: 'Well then, the train must go very quickly'
Me (amid rising anxiety on her behalf) 'why do you say that?
Her: 'the timetable shows the train arriving in Edinburgh one minute after Glasgow'
Me (seated in the Glasgow portion): 'so where are you travelling to?' (horrible feeling I knew the answer already)
And so it came to pass.
However we got her across from Central to Queen Street and a friendly BR ticket collector cheerfully let her on to the Waverley service via Falkirk for no excess fare having doubtless had this problem many times before.

I was working a train from Blackpool North to Buxton and this guy got on at Layton. When I went through doing tickets after Poulton-Le-Fylde, I got to this bloke and asked him for his ticket. His response? "I've been stuck in Layton overnight and had no money for food or anything so I ate my ticket". After I stopped laughing, I granted him free travel for the "most original excuse" I've ever heard!

Not really a train story but any how.

I was 16 yrs old coming back from school and i just saw the tram pull up and there was this girl i really fancied from school who was just getting on it. So i raced all down the steps to get to this tram and it was just closing its doors and i raced onto the tram.

Anyhow it had been raining so i had water on the bottom of my school shoes so when i was on the tram i tried to stop i couldn't and ending up flipping onto my backside. Everyone on the tram looked at me including my mates. This girl i fancied was in stitches. I had sheer embarrassment on my face. lol but it was funny.
