The clerk should only issue a Plusbus for the day you are travelling by rail. I'm sure there is a term for what you have described.
It's perfectly possible to have more than one ticket that is valid on a certain day but only actually go on to use one of many tickets. The example I am thinking of is holding a period return to a place I'm visiting, but doing a day trip for a shorter distance as part of the visit. Not sure what you were thinking of!

I agree with atraindriver. If the company believes that PlusBus tickets are being incorrectly sold by the railway ticket office then that needs to be brought up with the operating company there. There is no reason to introduce measures that could lead to conflict with passengers and denial of boarding.

I believe you know the company's actions are wrong and yet you refuse to admit it. As for case closed, your arguments and defence just don't stand up at all, I'm sorry to say.

There are ways and means to deal with issues like this and this is not one of them.

Quite - the bus company is quite right to be aggrieved that the tickets are not being sold according to the terms and conditions - but that does not give them the right to ignore the terms and conditions to passengers' disadvantage - the innocent passenger should not be the one to suffer.
