Under the new franchise which will be announced towards the end of this month/beginning of December, they will have to provide new units and so you will see an improvement in services from 2019 (a long way off I know)

Don't hold your breath on the timescale. Everything slips nowadays.

From reading the various network rail spending plans, it appears there are or have been plans to lengthen A&W services, and /or run additional semi fasts. Shipley is the main constraint, but some lengthening is possible, apparently.

I don't know if any of this is currently planned or funded. Given the new northern franchise requires the TOC to provide sufficient capacity to limit overcrowding, is thus now the franchisee's responsibility?

Could they not put the spare coaches that are being removed from the 321's that are being transferred to scotland from London Midland into the 321/322's, i know it may affect the power/weight ratio but at least its more seats and no carriages left doing nothing???

I'm surprised there isn't a bit of slack in the 321/322 fleet, as it totals 8 and prior to the 322s arriving the Leeds to Doncaster coped with 2 units. A couple of them currently work Airedale and Wharfedale diagrams but even with one under exam and one "hot spare" that leaves 2 to play with. Running those as an 8-car service (they're presumably less power-hungry than the 333s) calling at just Keighley and Skipton just ahead of the existing busiest Skipton stopper could help?

The 3rd unit was required in traffic morning and evening including a round trip on Leeds NW , though it was often substituted. There is now an extra peak Doncaster, an extra peak Skipton and an extra peak Ilkley, plus replacing the pacers that regularly substituted one or two diagrams. I don't think there's that much slack, though probably one extra Skipton could be covered (with 4 cars only).

Hi guys, does anyone on here know what Metro are actively doing to stop the chronic overcrowding of these services?

I presume they realise that a four car 333 unit isn't enough capacity for the the peaks?

Currently on the 16:26 Leeds - Skipton and people couldn't board it was that full.

Regular posters on here will know this is a regular problem that will only get worse with the new stations opening.

perspective is needed. It is bad but not as bad as elsewhere within either the franchise or the country.
