I think it may be half hourly during the day tomorrow (and next Saturday as well), but will only manage an hourly service on weekdays because there's not enough trains yet...

The main timetable and temporary timetable is for two trains per hour
However, the emergnecy timetable is for just one train per hour

I see Stewart Stevenson has resigned over the road chaos earlier this week. I really don't think much more could have been done given the sheer amount of snow that fell and he really should have stuck it out - unless he escaped before the news broke of the reduced service to be operating on A-B at opening?

I'll be on the route tomorrow, but I'll be doing it straight from Glasgow - Edinburgh. According to NRE, it's the emergency timetable that's in place.

Not so much due to the snow, but his gaff over insisting the response was first class
A few hours later drivers were spending a night stranded in Central Scotland

Next in his firing line would be the late entry into service of the Class 380 units, the late opening of the new Shields depot, and the A2B line

Not much hope for the new minister, can't make much more go wrong!

He made mistakes, yes, but there's some sort of perverse mindset in this country that, if something goes wrong, then someone at the top has to resign. I think it makes some people feel better. There wasn't any real need for him to resign IMO; otherwise, he's actually done quite a good job.

And good luck to the regular commuters on the 08:12 Airdrie-Helensburgh. This will be the only "rush hour" service on Monday morning, and is already crowded, so if the line is a success people could very well be left behind at Blairhill (which would be really terrible publicity for the new line).

The next transport minister then claim errors were made by the previous minister and is working on them; expect this same response for all the other transport issues for the next three months

Good to hear According to National Rail its running every half hour . Ill see if that is the case in reality at GLQ in a couple of hours .

After midday it is indeed 2tph/direction working. It appears Armadale, Caldercruix and Blackridge are open, I thought it had postponed slightly with the snow? Either way, it’s great to see it up and running, on time too, and I hope the 380 problem is sorter soon so they can get the full service as desired ASAP! I wish the line and project success in every way, I hope it inspires the country south of the Border to get off its arse and get some proper rail projects started!

There are no direct First ScotRail services between Airdrie and Bathgate.

The new Glasgow to Edinburgh via Airdrie-Bathgate line will have Sunday services commencing 12 December to Glasgow from Drumgelloch, Caldercruix, Blackridge, Armadale, Bathgate, Livingston North, Uphall and Edinburgh Park
Thereafter the contigency timetable applies, which is just 1 train per hour

The emergency timetable on A-B has nothing to do with the weather.

There's nothing in your "quote" that mentions the service being hourly.

And none of the timetables that have been published for A-B show it as being an hourly service on a Sunday.

And if he is referring to the Christmas extras on a sunday then they DO NOT include extra services between A-B.

Think this is happening on all services, the PIS only working on stations in strathclyde, however they have set destination screen as Edinburgh.

I didnt hear any station announcements either in Strathclyde dont know if that was just a fault at the stations i visited today...

Who is it you'd rather see resign in such cases?

I don't think there's any need for anyone to resign. That's what irritates me; the demands that some people in the UK have for someone, anyone, to resign if the least wee thing happens.

Granted Mr Stevenson did make some mistakes, but not enough to resign over. But it does at least seem like he wanted to go (rather than being forced out).

For some reason, I don't see the SNP government shooting themselves in the foot at every possible opportunity. If and when then they lose power (be it in 2011 or later), then I would expect that response from whoever takes over.
