Away from the specific incident, presumably the standard of "well enough to work" is higher for safety critical staff anyway? I mean I could turn up to work sniffling, sneezing and knackered after a poor night's sleep and inefficiently bury myself at my desk in paperwork, but that's not going to be a good idea for a Driver or Guard...

ComUtoR is following my point it seems his TOC is better run than AGA that is why I was thinking weather AGA were keeping costs down in view of the renewal in the summer
so as not to invest in training spare staff to benefit maybe a different operator

No I am not following your point. Your missing mine. My points are valid for most, if not all TOC's. There as small minor differences but essentially the system runs the same across the country. It's pure cynicism and paranoia to have a belief such as yours.

Drivers across the boards keep pointing these same things out but nobody is listening. Hit search, read the threads.

:roll: What people forget is when Overtime is freely available all the time eventually the Wife / gf /bf etc will put their foot down and say no more ......
Plus of course other factors like school holidays, decent weather forecast and a driver being knackered by working 12 days in a row !!

Quite a few drivers will turn up for work as long as they can physically stand up, I know I have to be completely effed up before I will go sick.

In fact the last time I went sick I was actually driving to work (at 0400) sweating like mad and feeling half dead, decided it wasnt a good idea so I rang work and then at 0900 rang the doctors for an emergency appointment to be told I had borderline pneumonia and I was to have complete rest for at least a week and the heaviest thing I was to lift was a dinner plate.

By 1300 I could hardly breath, never mind move and to think 9 hours earlier I was on my way to work.
