I know it's a bit of a joke, but the 180s have the potential to ease TPEs problems with the Scotland route or FGWs overcrowding on intercity services. I'd rather give them priority, although it's a shame that didn't happen with the OAOs, but anyway that's an issue that has already been debated...

Oh I agree completely, I was merely speaking in a "well there's nowhere else they can possibly be used so lets do this with them" frame of mind. I would much rather see them in action with a TOC that needs the extra capacity than on a speculative new route.

True but we should also support new routes, unless they are completely silly like some which come up!

As far as I'm concerned, the only real "new routes" (if you exclude minor alterations, changing service patterns and extensions) are going to come from Open-Access Operators, even then they seem to be London-centric. With the major stock shortages that exist, I think it's stupid to be even contemplating finding new routes (even realistic ones!) for the 180s.
