We've proved the point without even realising it!
Unfortunately, I have to wake up early every morning Monday-Friday and get to my office for 7:30am (my new office, they've finally been kind enough to allocate me my own down here in London) and believe it or not, posting in the morning might just be the best breakfast one can have!

I suppose it all depends on your working hours. I'll have to go for my briefing at 8:50 so I don't have long left now.

I am retired and also suffer from Hay Fever, which means that I have all the time in the world to be on this forum, with the added incentive of not being able to go out owing to my Hay Fever.

Indeed, as I have now until September totally off, I'm looking at having three days out of each seven out on a train somewhere, Essex, Glasgow, Bristol, Nottingham etc, but hayfever has messed me up this week, so it looks like I'll have to put it on hold.
When does the hayfever season usually end? I always make a note of it but forget it by autumn!

Well, it's not my fault that most of the work we used to do has disappeared; need something to keep me amused these days though I do pine for the times when making a cup of tea on nights was an art form if you didn't want to bring the job to a stand!So that's why your profile Occupation reads 'doing as little as possible.'

I'm on here a lot. I tend to work unsociable hours, and when I am working, there's a lot of waiting around in between rushes of great toil. So, what better way than to shoot the breeze on here?

Who knows, maybe with all the advancements in tech, we'll be eating gigabytes in a few years!
I've never heard that expression before, and I must say, I rather like it! I want to use that more often.

A forums quality is shown in the responses...this one gets a hellava lot, so it's doing something well/right...thing i notice is the level of knowledge on here can leave an enthusiast (Like me) well 'in the shade'...good for 'learning' more though...
My wife's only just got back from a business trip in the Middle East and is to tired to complain about my heavy forum overtime!

Maybe you should try and persuade your wife to register on the forum. You never know, she might get into the railway!
As far as tommorow is concerned, I'll be going up to Royston to see my Dad, so forum postings may not be as high as usual!

She already has made one single very heartfelt posting in reply to one particular forum member who she thought was trying to give a reason why her direct train from Manchester Airport to Windermere, as part of a visit to see her elder sister in Ambleside, should no longer run. She had misunderstood the meaning of his posting and made her apology.
She is quite a sensible woman...not the type who might sign her letter to the press as OUTRAGED OF ORPINGTON.

I usually only come here at weekends. Mind you, as I shall be in Dublin for a few days over next weekend I doubt I shall log back on until July 2nd. I know people who take their laptops with them and use wireless broadband, but I prefer to leave my home comforts behind when on holiday. This way I appreciate holidays for being different and still have something to enjoy when I come home.

As for the OP's question, I dunno, I'd not say I'm addicted to the forums but it sure helps me deal with my addiction to the railway when I can't get out and about on it. I used to discuss, at great length, the railway with a couple of mates I used to live with, however that all changed some months ago and now the only outlets I have for my passion are forums, Facebook and a couple of friends and family. I do miss the regular discussions on all manners of railway stuff, so I think if it wasn't for this and other forums I'd soon lose the plot!
Now, to finish preparations for my weekly trip on the rails! Although next week I can't afford to go out for a bash so look out, I'll be all over the forum next week!

Bet that got you going...typical false rumour but it could have been something far more serious that I do not want to go into here.
Are Arsenal are going to win something more this season, like the Woolwich Womens Institute Cup and is Arsene Wenger becoming President of the International Monetry Fund, because he is SO VERY CAREFUL with money.

He is so good at this that he even found a mistake in a station name (both in the index and on the map itself) of the newly published 12th Edition Rail Atlas (Great Britain and Ireland) published by Ian Allen Publishing.
There is now a new Spelling and Grammar grandmaster....I now know how Roger Federer must have felt when he was deposed by Raphael Nadal, after six years at the top at Wimbledon.
