When Old Oak Common is built, is the plan to close Acton Main Line?

Not that I've heard. Personally I'm curious as to how Willesden Junction (Watford DC/Bakerloo) and the nearby Central line will tie in.

No, in fact the frequency is doubling to 4tph each way I believe.

Currently the 2tph Paddington to Greenfords stop.

From Crossrail, the frequency is doubling to 4tph, a new station building is being built, a new footbridge, step-free access improvements, platform extensions for 10 cars, new platform canopy, and passenger info systems.

So lots of improvements coming. Long time overdue.

This states Crossrail will be 10 coach trains, so that's the length the platforms are being extended to.

What I meant to say was that I assume there will be the possibility to add 2 carriages as and when extra capacity is required [to most stations, certainly those in the core tunnel].

Acton Main Line has a nice sized middle class residential catchment area just to it's south and bits to the north. They're about to receive a regular one seat ride to the West End, City and Canary Wharf. No way will the station be closing. It's going to become very well used IMO.

The deep tunnelled stations are going to be long enough to allow for the possibility of future 240m trains, but only fitted out for 200m initially.

A similar idea (but on a larger scale) to the Tyne Wear Metro's 3 car tunnels that are only fitted out for two cars, there's a load of space behind the false headwalls.

This sort of future proofing would not normally be necessary on the surface stations - as long as space is available they'd just build 200m platforms initially.

I remember reading that actually, thanks for the reminder! The extra 40m on surface stations, if available, will be 'reserved'?
