Hilton by Hampton at Luton Airport Station.

Stayed 1 night before a a flight from Luton the next day. Paid around £70.

Room perfectly acceptable if a bit tired. View over the Railway tracks.

Breakfast was average , still rate the PI over it.

Was the Breakfast included in the rate as it often is with that brand ?

What sort of items were on offer - the full works hot and cold ?

All Hampton by Hilton stays include breakfast I believe along.

Bacon, Sausages, Beans and Scrambled Egg for Hot Items and small selection of cold items. That's not the full works.

Hyatt Lindor Hotel in Antwerp next to the station.

This hotel was around 80 euros for the night. Never stayed in a Hyatt group hotel and never heard of the Linder brand. Modern hotel although the room corridors were quite dull. Room was spacious and staff friendly . Breakfast spread was decent although hot options were limited in choice.

Had a great stay with comfortable bed and nice breakfast although it was basically fried or nothing for the hot food - toilet bath shower all worked properly with good hot water. Don’t know how much per night as I didn’t book it though

Stayed in a few places recently. I'll only include the hotels rather than Airbnbs and sleeper train seats.

Ibis Bidget Caen Gare (France)
Did the job. Quite a tired room, but perfectly acceptable. Friendly receptionist on arrival who spoke excellent English. A bit out of town, but directly opposite the station which was the sole reason I booked it. Bed was the usual Ibis Budget very firm bed, but after a poor night's sleep on a very rough ferry crossing the previous night, I'd have probably had no trouble sleeping on the platform! Slept very well and perfectly set up for an early train the next day.

OBB Nightjet Mini Cabin
Had an upper level cabin, a huge upgrade over a regular couchette as it is properly private. However the window is tiny, so forget about seeing outside. Slept pretty well, but they do take all the bedding off you about 90 minutes before arrival, so bear that in mind if you want a lie in. Went down to the seats for a couple of hours in the evening as the cabin bed was quite uncomfortable to sit up on for a long time. The supplement (€75) seemed quite expensive too, given I paid €90 for a proper cabin supplement in Norway a few months back.

B&B Hotels, Katowice (Poland)
First time I've stayed at the B&B Hotels chain, and I'm returning to this hotel this weekend. About 5 minutes from the station which was perfect. Spacious room with air con and very comfy. Not too dissimilar from an older Premier Inn really. No bar, but a fridge with a good selection of drinks and snacks, and breakfast was available. Unfortunately the second "night" I stayed, my train back from Warsaw had a fatality and I only got back at 7AM, 8 hours late. Thankfully check out as standard is 12PM. Which I was very greatful for. Apparently if you join their loyalty scheme, you get a late check out (2PM!) if you check out on a Sunday free of charge.

Guesthouse Outa, Rovaniemi (Finland)
Very impressed with this one. €50 for the night in that part of the world seemed a steal, though i imagine it gets significantly more expensive at Christmas time. Right in the heart of the town centre, yet very peaceful and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Victoria 1, Tallink Ferry
This seemed like an absolute steal. for the convenience and novelty factor I just couldn't resist. The ship sails to Tallinn and moors up for the night. Yet you can pay an extra €40 (or indeed more if you want a better cabin) and get a cabin for the night. I figured I'd probably be exhausted after a poor night's sleep on the train the previous night, which I was, so didn't really want the hassle of having to drag my stuff off the ship at 22:30 and find a similar if not higher priced hotel. This paid off as I fell asleep while we were still sailing, but then got woke up by the disembarkation announcement. So back to the bar I went, oh dear!:D It was a nice cabin given it was the cheapest one, but it was a strange experience sleeping on a ship in literal silence. Not a single vibration, rumble of the engine or motion.

Lollo Apartments, Vilnius (Lithuania)
I was a bit nervous about this one. Some of the reviews are pretty poor. But I needn't have worried. First impression was pretty poor, it's basically a building site when you first enter the building. But once you're in it's actually pretty good. Decent size room with a private bathroom, plenty of plugs and spotlessly clean. And a good craft beer bar round the corner too.

Currently staying in the Moxy in Plymouth

Was the same price as a Premier Inn
About 20 minutes walk from the station, clean rooms, very modern decor, nice breakfast
Bar area which serves reasonably priced food

Isn't it annoying that Edinburgh has three Travelodges all called Edinburgh Central. Heck of a job making sure I'm booking the right one! (Beginning of next year has become affordable again, unlike the stupidity of the second half of this year. I think they are having a sale as I had an email about millions of rooms from £35 - emphasis on the "from" though.

My wife and I have stayed a the Premier Inn Haymarket Hub hotel in Edinburgh a few times and we are going again early in 2026

For 3 nights (Sunday - Tuesday) Jan 11/12/13 it works out at only £122

For their slightly bigger rooms, which we always pick, it would be £136

These are pretty decent prices for Edinburgh .. early August these same rooms would be £488 (or £533) for a Sun, Mon & Tuesday

The Blackbull Inn Polmont

Booked a couple weeks in advance at £50 a night (which was the cheapest place I could find reasonably close to a station, afterall not much point saving money on accommodation only to fork out for a bus fare to a station).

Located in Polmont itself, down the hill from the station around 10 minutes walk with a couple of takeaways close by plus a Sainsbury's local outside the station, room above a small pub which did get loud on the Friday night but I was expecting that.

A nice touch with the window having both a blind and curtains to block out the light, shared bathroom where the light seemed to be on all the time, certainly somewhere I would consider using again if I was in Scotland on a Central Scotland Rover owing to having good links to both Glasgow, Edinburgh & Stirling.

Just as a matter of interest, there is an offer on at the moment with Premier Inn

With stays in Jan / Feb 2026 free breakfast is included

See here for details.. Premier Inn Offer link
Can't see any further details about T&Cs, I know previous "Free Breakfast" offers have been limited to the more restricted fixed rate bookings which have no free cancellations or change of dates allowed. However, knowing Premier Inn, no doubt they have increased the booking rate to take into account the 'cost' of a 'free' breakfast. Unless someone in head office has finally noticed, bookings have dropped since they have hiked their prices* to a point where I don't even consider searching on the PI website when I have little trips.

Similar to places on the likes of Booking.com where you get presented with option 1 of a room at £40 with the option of a breakfast for £8 or option 2 with the room at £48 but you get a free breakfast.

(*Such as searching in the Cardiff area on a Sunday night where Premier Inn were wanting £59+ for the city centre when Travelodge were £30 and even some of the more upmarket hotels were £50)

Thanks for that, I didn't know about it. Just booked two nights in Dundee for end of January. Prices seem very reasonable for Premier Inn, £39 a night for a river view room, £35 for non-view room.

Pretty much as cheap as you will get a Premier Inn. Not even paid that low for a Travelodge recently.

Worth checking any existing PI bookings you've got between 1/12 and 28/2. I've just cancelled a 2-nighter in Bournemouth @ £136 and re-booked the same room for £102, so with the £44 worth of free breakfasts for the two of us that's just about covered our train fares!

Premier Inn Edinburgh Park (Airport)

My wife and I have just returned from a short stay here.

We found it to be fantastic and there is easy access by train, tram and bus.

The hotel is about 50m from Edinburgh Park Station EDP)

Some great train views too,EDP PI.jpg from the south side

Travelodge, Slough (Central)

Located around 5 minutes from the railway station (depends on which way you walk). Standard Travelodge room layout, although the one I had featured USB C sockets alongside the usual older style USB sockets. The room unusually didn't have extra pillows, as the two pillows provided were the harder sort. A little bit of noise from outside (excluding the noise of fireworks) due to being near some takeaways. Can't really complain about £45 (fixed) for a Saturday night at 2 weeks notice for somewhere close to London.

Travelodge, Bristol Central Mitchell Lane

Located around 5-8 minutes from Temple Meads station (depending on which way you walk, due to the road layout). Another standard Travelodge in terms of rooms, with the car park underneath (reception on the 1st floor). Reasonably quiet location (down a side street) and useful if you are a crazy idiot wanting to do the 05:20 XC service from Temple Meads for the novelty of a 170 via the Severn Tunnel . £36 flex booked at the same time as I did for Slough. Tesco Express close by along with a handy Spoons (although seemingly priced at station pricing)

Ibis Hotel, Aberdeen

My wife and I have just returned from a short stay here.

It was our first ever time staying with Ibis, having had a recommendation on this forum several months ago

The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from Aberdeen Station and is very near Union Street, the main shopping street in the city.

Everything was fine and we would have no problem staying here again

Premier Inn Tenby

Stayed for one night two weeks ago. Ten minutes walk in a straight line from Tenby station, then just across the road from the hotel to the upper sea front (easy access to the beach if you're okay with lots of steps, and there's also ramp access). Under five minutes from the town centre shops. Usual Premier Inn hotel, room fine, no complaints. Location is the best selling point. Didn't use the restaurant but there's a chippie on the corner of the next street which you can't miss on your walk from the station. Downside is getting to Tenby in the first place - you can lose the will to live on the nearly three hour 2-coach rail journey from Cardiff, and coming back we were delayed by signalling problems and had under four minutes to get to our onward Manchester train instead of the comfortable 12 we should have had. Train services (Cardiff-Pembroke Dock) are infrequent, only a couple a day in each direction I believe, so you have to plan accordingly.

I almost kicked myself as last Sunday I booked a Premier Inn for a night in December.

However, it has now gone up by £23 so was still more cost-effective last weekend, even though I shall have to pay for breakfast.

CAUTION : The free breakfast offers exprires at 11.59pm tomorrow (Monday 17th).

Regarding the free breakfast PI offer, I've been finding that to find that you have to go off the link provided upthread. If I Google search for 'Premier Inn Wherever' it just brings up the usual three options, i.e. Flex/Semi-Flex/Standard, rather than the offer options of Non-Flex Plus Free Breakfast/Flex/Semi-Flex.

Can I ask @Willie Bee where he got the original link from? I've not received any notification although I do have an account, and on here is the only place I've seen it. Conscious that I don't want to miss out on any future offers!

Ah, thanks for that. I don't use that website, perhaps I should start. It would be great if you could continue to post anything you find that might be useful to the rest of us!

I'm signed up to Premier Inn's marketing emails and that's where I received the link.

A couple from me recently.

The Peedie Hostel, Kirkwall
Arrived after midnight which wwasn't a problem. It's a hostel in name only really, there's no dormitory type accommodation, it's all private rooms. Albeit with a shared bathroom and a kitchen. It's in a great location and I slept really well. There's luggage lockers there too, so you can leave bags before/after your stay.

Papa Westray Hostel, Papa Westray
Another hostel in name only. All private rooms which were very nice and cosy. The dining room turns into "The Papay Pub" on a Saturday night, often with live music, though not last night. A good laugh and a good atmosphere sitting in the "pub", with some of the cheapest drink prices I've ever seen. Sadly after one too many I fell asleep infront of the TV in the lounge, so only got to bed at 06:55. Oops! :D

A little bed & breakfast (10 rooms) on pleasant street (a stone's throw from the tram stop of the same name and less than 10 minutes from Blackpool North & town centre area. Comfortable beds in a twin room with a reasonable shower (although it could have done with having a little shelf in the shower area itself to hold bottles). Reasonably quiet in terms of outside noise with the window having both a blind and curtains to block out the light.

Friendly hosts, full English breakfast included in the price (although only between 9am & 10am) there was even a small bar area downstairs (not sure on the opening hours). Only downside was the WiFi being a bit iffy, and where they told you the password they didn't tell you the network name so it was a bit trial & error to pick the actual WiFi network for that B&B.

Premier Inn, Inverness City Centre

I stayed here recently on a Saturday night, I initially paid £76 for a standard room, to then get an email from them the day before my stay upgrading me to a Premier Plus room with a view of the river and castle, this was my first time staying over in Inverness in 10 years and was my first time staying in a hotel alone, I thought it was really good, especially as I got a bit of luck with the room, had a great night's sleep, a decent shower in the morning aswell, so much space for 1 person, I didn't bother with breakfast as I was in a rush to catch a picture of the 0940 LNER train before it left for London.

I assume you are referring to the Inverness Centre (River Ness) P.I.

My wife and I stayed there early in the year and found it excellent, see post ref. 1565 on this thread

Can report back from our first experience of the Premier Inn breakfast deal that was discussed recently. It's excellent value, there's no restrictions i.e. only continental etc., you can fill your plate from the hot buffet, plus all the fruit, pastries, cereals etc. I hope they repeat this every year. We've been wondering whether (some of) the hotel chains have finally realised that they've priced themselves out of most people's budgets (unless you're on expenses) and are redressing the balance back to something more realistic for most people.

We were in the Bournemouth Central one. Having read the reviews, which mentioned the heating system had been broken for months/years, I packed a blanket, but the room was toasty, as a large plug-in radiator was supplied. Unfortunately with the Premier Plus rooms they have now locked the doors onto the balconies, so they only open a crack, but it was a bit cold for being on a balcony anyway, although it use to be nice having an uninterrupted view of the pier and sea front.

I stayed there recently. Standard PI fare, room wasn't too warm or too cold, en-suite satisfactory, quiet. Nice friendly receptionist. Buffet breakfast ticked all the boxes :)

BUT, my room had a half-decent view of the station! :D I was on the top floor and on the right side of the hotel for the view, so that was nice. 8-)
