Access to TRUST

My partner is a guard for Northern and I wanted to ask if they can get access to the TRUST system for allocations?

I understand my partner can call control for allox and generally never uses TRUST.

Doubt it, unless they have access to a PC and a log on, which aren't given out without a decent reason.

I don't see what harm it would do.

There is also a public website called Realtime Trains which displays allocations and diagrams, along with unit numbers.

There is that, and many TOCs have far better tools for most of the things Trust might be used for. The OP's partner should talk to the TOC about their requirements. If it's about crew and train allocations then Genius Mobile might be appropriate.

It's pointless asking as the answer will be no. The instructions given are to phone control if you need to check a unit allocation.

The TOC may have a different system that they can access that displays the information they require. TRUST is often fed from other systems anyway, especially as the day progresses and unit swaps / faults / disruption occurs and changes are made to the original daily stock plan.

TRUST logins are only generally given to performance, delay attribution & service delivery (e.g. control) staff which is used in their daily work.

As per previous replies, RTT already gives allocations for Northern Trains workings,
so why would you need TRUST access for that, potentially risking your partners job?

As others have said I'm not sure trust works outside of computers that have it installed through I could be talking rubbish.

Ask IS what the deal with a WebGemini log on that can be accessed through your phone through the internet and it's very simple to use. I don't think it would be a problem but again the answer might be no.

I think we need to be very clear here - are we trying to solve a problem for the person who works for Northern, or are we trying to solve a problem for you (their partner)?

If the former, they need to speak to their Reps/Management about a way to find out which unit they need to be working. They may advise that phone calls are the best solution.

If the latter, for example you’d find it helpful if your partner could look up random things on Trust, I’m afraid this isn’t going to be possible.

To be fair with knowing how the data flows work (assuming things aren't broken in odd ways), the limit of delay between it updating in TRUST and RTT (and hopefully soom other systems!) should be no more than 5 minutes.

If you really want TRUST access, then you need to find some work inside the industry, mostly in performance or software engineering around it, and then get an industry sponsor to approve you to have access, and then you need to pay the exhorbitant annual fees relating to that access. I've got it on my computers/iDevices because of what I do - but it's really quite hard to get access normally.

Fair points.
I have access to Trust as part of my Train Station role, but mostly just use it as a back up way of tracking trains and obtaining delay reasons, not for the unit allocation function.

Allocations for work purposes can be found on realtimetrains.co.uk or by going to the platform/siding displayed on station screens or depot notices. Failing that allocations can be given by control with a quick (occasionally slow) phone call to control which for a member of traincrew would be 2nd nature. No need for trust for day to day work
