Don't trust the BBC Weather! I learnt that long ago. They will always predict the worst. If there's a heatwave, they'll get in bang on. But anything else and they are guaranteed to make a bigger meal than my dog has just made out of his Pedigree chum!!!

Sorry to disappoint you, but Metcheck are saying the same thing for certain areas, especially Scotland and Northern Ireland.

There is always an element of doubt where the weather is concerned. Most places try their hardest to produce a correct forecast with the resources and the equipment they have available to them, sometimes being woefully wrong!

Oooh, I hope we get some more thunderstorms here. There's been some fantastic ones in the past couple of weeks :D

The BBC Ceefax ( news report about the imminent warmth, not the weather page ) today managed to describe it as 90°C.......:roll:

I believe that it is on Sunday, perhaps extending into Monday for the South. Cool with grey skies in Newcastle.

Not wanting to drag us too far off topic, temps of upto 90 degrees are still predicted, and very warm temperatures for Sunday night are also predicted.

Yes, thanks for coming back on-thread, but as I said yesterday, the forecast for Scotland and Northern Ireland still said rain for much of those areas on Sunday. The forecast at 1800 tonight shows "a big blue splodge" over Central Scotland for tomorrow.

Shall we wait now until tomorrow?.

Today is already far hotter than yesterday, the temperatures in Letchworth are up ten degrees. I went for a walk this morning, as it's far too warm to go out again later. Though this does inevitably mean....more posting. ;)

What I'd like to know is why the weather report thinks it's acceptable to measure all but the warmest temperatures in Celcius. 90F is slightly warmer as *insert pause for googling here* 32.2C (since I can't use 2-bar to point out it's recurring)

I'm glad I decided against going out from Monday to Tuesday - heavy rain is forecast for the latter :D and it means I can endure the heat infront of my fan

I think it's very simple, and to do with the British psyche - when it's hot, farenheit gives higher numbers, making it easier to complain about :lol:

Farenheit doesn't really mean much to me, so it's quite irritating when my parents switch between the two.

Whilst I'll be glad to see the winter, I certainly do not like it gets darker much earlier, usually around 17:00pm. It can be a bit eerie leaving Kings Cross at 16:30pm in daylight, and arriving back at Letchworth twenty five minutes later in complete darkness.

Agreed, I'd like to keep the light nights (especially at the expense of dark mornings)

As much as I find it odd to wake up in darkness and leave for home in darkness over the course of a working day, I am more comfortable with it than waking up at 0430 and knocking off at 1900 in broad daylight.

Anyone on the forum who lives on the west coast of Scotland like to report on the weather there at present?

My wife says that her friend in Mallaig says the temperature is 16 degree Celsius at present and wonders where the heatwave went to? It seems to have by-passed their area.

Here in Staffordshire it has been pretty warm, especially when the sun hasn't been behind the clouds and without much of a breeze. Been out for a walk in it (maybe foolhardy!) which has been nice although at times, a little on the warm side
