A heatwave looming?

Notice that we are going to be visited by some very warm air from the Carribean towards the weekend, sending temperatures up to about 28 degrees in the South and 24 degrees in the North (practically tropical here!)
So, the question is, will this set a trend for the rest of summer, or are we in for a summer of rain and cool temps?

Yes, the south and midlands need the rain after such a dry spring, however parts of Scotland will be keen to get rid of the stuff!

It's the humidity in our climate that's the killer when the heat comes. If it wasn't as humid, 28 degrees is quite a nice temperature; and I hate the heat!!!

Yes, I feel sorry for the people in the South East who are often subjected to heat of around 30 degrees in the Summer.

That's my favourite weather as well. I don't mind a bit of light drizzle though.

Countryfile is an excellent programme, also giving you the weather for the week ahead.

As long as there's no wind, I quite like the cold. It's as soon as the windchill kicks in that everything becomes utterly awful.

Remember, there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. Which is why the heat is so awful, you can strip right down and STILL be way too hot.

A fair point. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that it is horrible when humid at night, temperatures don't look like they are going to get below 18 degrees, in some places during the night on Sunday.

The office where I used to work was 36 degrees one day last year! To put that into perspective you can no longer radiate heat off the skin (~32C). Needless to say that was the day I sacrificed some time and left early.

Humidity is just as bad though, you can't do anything without sweating

I love the cold and ice. it was superb walking about last winter when it was -10 degrees during the day. I saved a lot of diesel expenditure!

Exactly. On the subject I can't the only one infuriated by the nothing that "good" weather is hot and dry where "poor" weather is cold and wet. Nobody is denying fog is poor aviation weather but in general?

Yeah, I walked around a lot too often in shorts if there wasn't a serious wind chill. I got a lot of dodgy looks but I had dry socks and no wet trouser legs :d

I'd like the weather reports and media to be a bit more realistic in the summer. "With highs of 32 Celsius during the day and 27 at night, we can look forward to sleepless nights, sunburn, uncomfortable sweating when doing anything more than breathing, and great news if you're a hayfever sufferer; you're gonna wish you were dead!"

I'll be the oddball then and say that I love the warm weather - so long as it's not too humid. Normally May and June are the best months for weather around here with lots of sunshine and warm temperatures, but there's been none of it this year, and the area is noticably quieter as a result. I feel that you also get the full beauty Devon when it's looking at its best in glorious sunshine - the Dawlish sea wall just doesn't look the same on a grey, overcast day (though, granted, it's probably at its very best in a storm!).

Well, what a miserable bunch most of you are when it comes to warm weather......where do I sign up :P

Temperature we're having here in the West Midlands in ok for me at the moment - not too warm and not too cold. Can't stand it being too cold, though that is better than being too warm as you can (usually) more easily get warm where cooling down can be difficult at times. Where in the West Midlands though? Cities are going to be hotter than rural areas, especially at night.
