Do the Voyagers go via a quicker route?

Same route, but without the extra layover time that the Virgin service experiences at Wolverhampton. It's a hangover from when the Edinburgh/Glasgow - Birmingham and Wolverhampton - Euston routes were married up to create a through service.

My experience of the morning Edinburgh to Euston service is that it is always late by the time we get to Wolverhampton therefore it doesn't tend to spend too much time there.

My last trip on a pendo was on a Saturday, on a Wolves-Euston.
I got on at New St (just).
It wasn't a matter of can I get a seat?
It was can I get on board?
For many people the answer was NO.
Many people were left behind.

I would imagine that the closure of the Chiltern line to Marylebone has had a hand in shifting passengers over to the Euston services: I've never seen Pendos that busy out of Birmingham, even during the weekday peaks (The 17:20 Birmingham - Scotland used to start quite full when it was a single Voyager, but nowhere near the extent of people being left behind).

My experience of the morning Edinburgh to Euston service is that it is always late by the time we get to Wolverhampton therefore it doesn't tend to spend too much time there.

It's true, I tend not to expect to make my intended connection from Birmingham while on Scotland to Birmingham trains as they often seem to end up a few minutes behind. Same coming southbound from Manchester: It always feels to me that Norton Bridge has a lot to answer for.

What service was that out of interest? I was on the 0710 ex-New St on Saturday and even that was considerably busy.

It's true, I tend not to expect to make my intended connection from Birmingham while on Scotland to Birmingham trains as they often seem to end up a few minutes behind. Same coming southbound from Manchester: It always feels to me that Norton Bridge has a lot to answer for.

Indeed, from my experiences of VT Crewe-Wolves and vice versa just over 30 mins is always a bit of a tight timing (I cannot honestly remember the last time I was on time off Crewe heading north).

I honestly do not understand why people do that. I prefer to just sit where I am.

The Voyager doesn't stop at "Not Sandwell or Dudley" either.
