Fantastic. Looking forward to seeing / riding behind these.
The only section of route covered by W&S operations that will be duplicated by the 67s on the WAG Express will be the relatively short stretch between Wrexham and Shrewsbury; in other areas, loco-hauled services have been in short supply beyond the WAG Express operation, so its' easy to see why there would be some froth over developments involving Wales' only regular loco hauled passenger service.Did you not ride behind 67's when WSMR were in operation? I really cannot see what the difference is except they turn right at Shrewsbury instead of left, a 67 is a 67 no matter what colour it is!

There seems to be a problem that prevents the Arriva Logos being applied........... the uneven shape of the Loco sides!
Saw 003 in Warrington Arpley yesterday, looking smart. Just needs a few double arrows to set it off...
To be honest, and in my person opinion, an Arriva branded 67 isnt going to be the best looking 67 livery around - Partly because of the ripped bodysides, but also if Arriva continue with the big swooping curves towards each end of the loco - It works on the 57s because they are squarer...and don't have a whacking great big Rad grill at the end, with 2 bodyside grills on either end on the other side...
Let's just say, its going to be interesting...
Haven't seen many photos of 003 around yet, but theres this over on the Railway Herald
Thanks for posting! This is the outward Loads.
I ll have a search for the return....... someone will have posted somewhere!
I think they ought to just keep it as it is. Simple one-colour liveries always work best; look at FGW's HST power cars.

I agree. The 67 looks good as it is - the coaches are liveried anyway, so why bother? Presumably they'd have to cut the decals to get them over the ribs anyway?
One of the WG Express 57s already has this plain livery and looks good as it is.
Of the 4 ATW 57s, 57313 and 57316 are in the same state as 67001 and 67003, while 57314 and 57315 are in full branded ATW livery. Has their been any word as to wether the 67s will be replacing the 57s or in addition to the 57s yet?
I think that Arriva were told in no uncertain terms to stop messing about and that Gerald was to be loco-hauled Premier grade service via Wrexham after December, so there is no option but the 67s.
Presumably with DVTs, but could they be top-and-tail 67s?
I suppose it could be top & tail 67's to start. I dont think the DVT can work push pull with MK2 carriages. ATW were supposed to get some refurbished MK3's
Only Class 67s being painted in Arriva colours are fitted with Remote Fire System. This makes DVT operation most likely!

If that was the case surely they would have top and tailed the 57's for that purpose and not bothered with the 67's at all, it is cost on track access I thinks!!!!

** Incidentally, did you know that the Counsel General of the Welsh Assembly is Theodore Huckle? no, i'm not sure what a Counsel General is, but you must admit it's a top name.

They did do in the old days with Virgin. I think it's just to do with the cables. To work with the 67s, the coaches would need to be equipped with through cables in any case, I presume.
I thought there was an issue with 57s needing a long time to start up + fire suppression issues, so they had to be towed dead?
But I'm sure it will be 67 + DVT operation.
67's have to be towed dead as well with batteries isolated, well they did when we top and tailed them with WSMR. I am sure you are right with the 67/DVT failing that it will be an ATW 175 hired to ATW from ATW at the taxpayers cost
Reminds me of a discussion I had with a colleague a few weeks ago; he remarked that he had seen a "BR Blue" 57 knocking round our area - I told him it was actually "Arriva turquoise" but he maintained it was BR blue!!!Almost has a British Rail look in that picture.
Perhaps one for Fictitious Liveries?
