Unfortunately 390 054 suffered its first mainline failure in passenger service yesterday evening. She broke down at Milton Keynes Central whilst working the 16:38 Euston - Birmingham New St.

Had to happen sooner or later! Any idea what caused it? Am I right in thinking it has electronics onboard that are new to it compared to the rest?

You are correct, she did indeed suffer from an electronics failure and also the air con failed in Coach C. The staff on board tried to reboot the onboard systems twice but to no avail. 390 054 has been in service since 16th July. Correct me if I am wrong.

It's been in passenger service for that long but it's been running around the mainline on mileage accumulation and testing for 11-car operations for a while before that, which is what I think Jon is getting at.

Worked 390054 first time today on 5R16 / 1R16 (07.41 ex BHI). Was expecting to have problems but it was as good as gold. A nice quite drive, no rattles, no noisy worn wheelsets etc. Impressed !
