Is there a date of when the 380s are going to start passenger services?
The official entry date has not changed, Monday 13 December
It had been hoped to have some in passenger use earlier
The same as when the Ayrline was nearing completion some Class 318 units entered passenger service early
The main issue now is will there be enough units so that the required cascade of Class 334 units can operate the Helensburgh - Edinburgh and Milngavie - Edinburgh services
Clearly this will not be the case, the project being 10 weeks behind gives some idea as to the number of units not available
However, some attempt is now being made to clawback some of that delay through additional driver training of the eight units that have now been approved for such use, and as things progress now two further units each week
There should be two units ready for passenger use on Monday 15 November, but it is likely to be for "officials" only
Therefore watch with interest on Tuesday 16 November
The next issue is receiving enough 3 car units so that they can enter service between Glasgow and Ayr
If there are not enough, then the 4 car units will simply enter service on the Inverclyde routes only
However, that also presents its own issues as not all the stations are ready!
