With regard to the 314s, I'm a bit confused. If they're losing some of their duties on the Cathcart Circle, does this mean more 6-cars on Glasgow - Gourock?

It has been said that their number of daily diagrams will drop from 14 to 13 when the 380s are up and about, so am I right in surmising that 380s will run most of the Cathcart Circulars, with 314s remaining on the Neilston and Newton branches as well as the Inverclyde, with more off-peak pairs?

I don't think it would be that simple, at least not with the current diagrams for the 314s.

It is all about increasing number of seats, without increasing the number of units

Therefore two of the Cathcart Circle services will be operated by a four car Class 380; two in the morning and two in the evening
It is possible the Glasgow - Gourock may be operated by a pair of Class 314, but from memory it is just a straight swap of units; I will check this and reply if necessary

All the remaining services on the cathcart route during the day will be operated by Class 314
All the remaining services on the Glasgow - Gourock will be operated by three car Class 380

About time time too! Let's get the driver training started!

Yet another problem unfortunately - dragging brakes leaving Dollands Moor. Don't think they made it to Scotland this morning.

I don't think it would be that simple, at least not with the current diagrams for the 314s.

The Class 314 diagrams get rewritten from December. Continues to be 14 diagrams as at present, but one diagram will spend the entire day on Inverclyde services from December until March. From April, that diagram is no longer required as the services will be covered by 380s and there will be 13 Class 314 diagrams, all focused on Cathcart (although there may be the odd service to Inverclyde in there, just as there's the odd 380 diagram that ends up in Cathcart).

Saw a couple of 380 units at Wembley yard this morning, I presume it was these two?

Yep they finally made it to Wembley Yard last night too late (it seems) for the usual path Northwards.

I observed 92001 + 380103 + 380104 at Wembley yard at 12:09 today (Fri 22/10/10) from a Southern Service from East Croydon to Milton Keynes. They are situated about 8 sidings from the Up/Down slow lines along side-ish the carriage depot - could see all side numbers. By 13:08 an EWS container train was in the way but I could still get one side number from each unit as I went back to where I belong.

My guess is that they will head North at 19:12 in the usual path (ignoring the bit from Dollands Moor to Wembley that is !).

So have any class 380 units actually entered serive on the Ayrshire Coast/Inverclyde line services yet!

That would've been posted. At least do some research before asking these type of questions, and please learn the difference between exclamation marks and question marks.

380105 & 107 are doing their first daylight testings now on the Inverclyde line, as we speak

Is that a statement or a question?
What is a serive?

The Class 380 units were due to enter limited service during September
However, due to issues with the wheelsets, resulting in late delivery, this was pushed back to mid October
Then we had the "non-multi" issue, which has resulted in a software upgrade in the units already in Britain (but does not appear to have been applied to all the other units outwith Britain)
Later that same evening one unit had some damage, which suspended the fleet for a week

I was informed last week that it was hoped to get some additional tests carried out this weekend, in an attempt to clawback some lost time, as none had originally been planned for weekends
GBRf had also originally planned for two crews for testing purposes, but due to the suspension they reallocated their staff and when operations commenced they could only supply one
From next week they will only be supplying one, as ScotRail drivers take over for all other runs; GBRf will continue to provide one crew for testing of new units to Carstairs and Carlisle

Unfortunately not, which means some passengers are left stranded as units are stolen off existing 6 car 334 diagrams to provide the A2B units.

Ironic, the lack of Class 380 units has not resulted in a lack of units on the Ayrshire routes
Transport Scotland are adamant they are separate projects, yet it is quite clear the late delivery of one has now affected the other
Equally, both projects are now affected

It could be worse
The original plan was to have the Class 380 units on A2B
From December that would have been a nightmare!

380 102 Now (1/11/2010) in the UK, Wandsworth Road at 15:19. Probably continue North in the usual path off Wembley at 19:12.

With class 380 units set to operate Edinburgh to North Berwick/Dunbar services will the class 380 units operate Glasgow Central to North Berwick services and vice versa or will a class 318 unit operate this journey and if a class 380 is used wouldn't this be good preparation if they are ever transferred to Argyle Line duties?

380s will take over all the 322 diagrams. There won't be any 318s working out of Central High Level once the 380s are in full service.

Doubt that they'll appear on the Argyle Line any time soon though.

i think eventually the 380s will run on the Argyle lines .It would a shame if they were restricted to a few lines. Shame about no more 318s at Glasgow Central High Level.

The Argyle Line will have access to the entire 318 fleet and most of the 320 fleet, and likely if there's any need for them, the 334s will show up here and there. There's no need for a 380 on this line.

What routes will these Class 380 units operate on?
The plans at the moment do not have any Class 380 units through Argyle Street; Class 318 and 320 only

However at the next fleet improvement, due 2018, this may see Class 380 units downgraded to replace the Class 318 units on this route

I would say you'd have a better chance of seeing a 314 back on the Argyle Line (which would rock btw) than you do seeing a 380 on it.

I can't even see any reason why a Class 380 would end up passing through Argyle Street
There is no need to be there
However, during a later timetable this may see them operate on either the Argyle or North Clyde Lines, so a movement to Yoker would be required

Equally, in the event of a fleet failure (such as last year with the Class 334 units banned from Ayr services due to snow) it may be possible

More chance of seeing a Class 390 passing through Argyle Street though
