It's transformed. Always thought they looked hideous before. --- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Gives a hint of what the 458s would look like in outer-suburban blue, if SWT EVER get round to repainting them.
Good livery Like the blue rather than purple. It will take a while for all the EMUs to get painted . So that leaves the SPT 170S left as the only SPT liveried DMUs left . I wonder if the 314s will make the repaint .
The Saltire 334 looks great: The Scotrail dark blue livery suits most things it’s applied to fantastically well, 156s are the exception IMO. The SPT Carmine and Cream didn’t sit well on modern styled units I thought. I agree with Jopsuk that the new colours do indeed reveal the similarities of the 334 design to the 175s.
Apparently, ScotRail responded to an e-mail asking when the 314s are to be Salitired, and they said early 2011. If this hold true, seems the 314s will be up next.
334012 has been sighted today in rubbed down form, so the pace of getting them through looks to be pretty rapid, considering how tight the fleet is right now. Perhaps they just want two or three in place for the A2B opening and then things will ease off until there's more slack in the fleet.
I'm not by any means an expert, but it seems to be that they're rubbing them down/partially reliverying them one weekend and vinyling it the next. Presumably the timetables at the weekend allow for one unit to be processed. This allows them to be out and about in that horrible state over the week to cover for the current shortage.
As for the number they want done... I reckon they'd only do enough to ensure that Stewart Stevenson MSP can open the line in front of the new livery and not have an SPT-liveried train creep into a photo shoot.
