On slam door mk3 coaches, not a high density unit with automatic doors
Which makes it even more remarkable that a door that you physically have to open was managed with just fine, and one that is high density, (and might just have other people using the doors) is suddenly a problem.

I accept the compromise, think it's been nicely done, however the indignation about people being discriminated against etc,. etc,. is laughable.

Great, let's make one train harder for some people to use just because it doesn't look quite right to you? I think it's a nice compromise, balancing a nod to heritage with making sure that people aren't needlessly impacted.
:roll
name me one condition where you can see a different coloured door but you cant see a door opening

If a member of the public with limited vision attempted to board them then yes there would be an accessibility issue, and I'm sure if you tried hard enough and interviewed enough people you could find an anecdote.

And vice versa...

After a couple of hours in Littlehampton shed, 313201 went back out on the Littlehampton - Portsmouth/Bognor circuit this afternoon, starting with the 15.57 Littlehampton - Portsmouth & Southsea (curtailed at Fratton following line problems).

It is starting to look a little dirty in places with parts of the bodywork quite dusty and it appears a couple of eggs have been thrown at it. Never mind - it still looks great in my opinion and put in a good turn of speed on the 10.22 Ore - Brighton.

Pic is not the 10.22 to Brighton

its nice to see 001 - sorry 201 ...back in her original paint, after 42 years in traffic things change, new seating, digital dest board etc..she is as original as she can be..a small nod to her heritage would have been the headcode box back in use.

I do hope NRM take her as entire unit, splitting is pointless, she cant be hired out etc, and she is left in the condition she was preserved in. i would take a nod using the PTS by changing the seats back to brown plastic, take off the door buttons, ..thats all though she would need, that shows the base changes interior wise

313 - 315, 507 & 508 havent changed much since built, they are bullet proof bang around squadrons, compare them to the power hungry, computer operatied granddaughters and grandsons in form of electrostar and desiros etc..they are great squadrons i suspect train crews, maintenance teams etc and of course some of the punters will miss em when they are gone...
