Yes, LCD panels are not expensive these days. I doubt it's going to be a Cinema 3D with 1 billion Hz overscanning, Ultra HD resolution, iPlayer and games/apps etc..

I'm looking for a 32-inch panel to hook up to a set top box, and you can get screens for around £200! However, go up to 40-inches or so and - presumably because they're produced in larger numbers these days - they're not much more expensive. In fact, you can get some for the same money with far more features too.

That toilet would have come in handy for the passengers stuck on the Southern 313! If Network Rail have proved (or will prove) that a toilet can be installed, why didn't Southern do it? Do they plan to repace them with new 377's in the next few years?

Well I doubt Network Rail will have to faff around with things like DDA compliance so can get away with a compact toilet (small and easier to install). I also wonder if they have to fit a retention tanked toilet? Basically, I doubt what NR is going to fit to the 313 is going to be suitable for passenger service trains.

The toilet is a bin emptied out the cab door. Southern have been testing the design for them

That's probably the case. Out of interest (and sorry to go off topic), but how much would it have cost to install a DDA toilet on a 313? Also, how many seats would be lost in the process?

Although without being pedantic, like most of NRs fleet the MPVs were inherited. Now, could the 57s be the newest driveable thing in Network Rails fleet? :lol: The old & new combined in one loco then!

on a more serious note, the "Not to be moved" sign appears to have a collection of tags hanging from it- I'm betting these have to be removed, by specific personnel on completion of key tasks, before the sign is allowed to be removed?

Yes, the tag is the personal tag of someone who is working on or underneath it. Each tag represents one person. When they start work, they clip it onto the sign and remove it when they finish, so as long as at least one tag is there, someone is working on the unit somewhere.

Also been tested on SWT by the drivers but they didnt bother with the bin and it was "direct discharge", um apparently, so somebody told me, no it wasnt me honest! :oops ;)

Each tag usually also has what section of the depot they are based in on. So if you work in the Fuelling area, it'll either have that on or be a different colour. Can't remember what mine said, it's been a while since i last saw and had to use it.

I was wondering what they were for, as I saw one at Norwich with about 5 tags on it - I wondered why there were things dangling from it :o

I was at FPK one day when myself and FCC staff noticed a train flying up the down fast with the 'do not move' sign still attached and flashing...!

It was pretty quickly stopped further up the line, but I wonder who took responsibility for that one. My memory can't remember what TOC it was, but I think it was a HT 180.

Oh dear! :o One hopes there was not a fitter dangling from the underside of it somewhere!

There are several 'reported' cases I've heard about of trains being moved in platforms with a station tanking hose still in place. Makes a bit of a mess of the wall fixings I understand!

313121 made an appearance on the WCML on Friday 5th July looking very smart in its new colours. A couple of videos have popped up of it on YouTube.

313121 is out again this week - they should put it outside the TMD for old times sake really... Presumably related to all this stepping up a gear, the track inspection coach is spending four nights next week shuffling between Hertford and Stevenage.
