I would love to see anything for The Great Eastern Main Line honestly (I know we got the FLIRT) but I would love some Network Southeast EMUS or Anglia Railways or even class 90 and Mk3s in ONE Livery etc :)

Why are Hornby so allergic to most things GA? They had a Greater Anglia 90 planned many a year ago but it got canned for afaik unknown reasons?

I feel like The Great Eastern Main Line is forgotten sometimes like I would love to see BR Class 321, 360 or 315 as well

Closest we've gotten is the RCS mk3s which ironically use the HST Mk3 tooling

Yes, indeed. I assumed that this was because they don't have any MK3b tooling, and the HST tooing was considered closest (the roof detail is the same although other bits aren't).

They presumably have the Oxford Rail Mk3a tooling, which would be correct for the GA TSOs, but I don't think it's ever been used under the Hornby brand (and not under the Oxford Rail brand either since the first few batches).

Video from the Hornby Magazine youtube channel*, featuring Richard Proudman from Bachmann discussing their upcoming class 313/314 release (under the EFE brand).

(*=The channel logo is that of the Key Model World channel, thanks to YT's new "collaboration" feature which lists both contributing channels)

Oh those are so nice! I have no need for a 313- but I really really want one. Or two.

My earliest recollections of the 313s, were NSE examples on Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey branch the second half 1980s; and photographing a blue-grey set sat at Doncaster (I guess due to enter the Works) in 1988. 314s were snared in 1988 and 1990, during Rail Rover bashes.

In the mid 1990s 313s were a key part of my work commute and they were getting ropey inside!

My final memories, following a move to the south coast, was photographing their last two months with Southern; and then trying to photograph them all on their "one way trip" between Lovers Walk and Eastleigh.

They do look good... I'm not planning on getting one myself, not least because I'd struggle to explain how an EMU would find itself on an unelectrified branch... But if a Merseyrail version follows it could tempt me despite those same constraints still applying. It does look an impressive model!
Can't remember where I saw it, but I'd recently also seem some engineering samples of Dapol's Class 323. That also looked great, but I'd struggle to justify the expense of having one custom repainted into WYPTE livery and renumbered into the 3234xx range as a "what might have been"!

And so it continues with the 313 & 314. Even Heljan’s 104 awaits an ER variant.

Comically, the only bit of an East Anglian EMU produced to date is a single coach of a class 307 in its later PCV guise.

The 313s did briefly operate on the Clacton/Walton lines IIRC, and of course also operated out of Liverpool Street 1986-1992 on the Watford via Primrose Hill services.

Funnily enough in the video posted above, Richard did mention that they ran on the GEML initially... I just put that down to an error by himself or Bachmann's researchers that was probably based on the vehicle numbers having an E prefix (with the Northern City Line being an Eastern region route)!

Do you think they would ever do any Great Eastern Main Line EMUs ?
Revolution are doing the 321. Available in NSE & NXEA.
The 360 is a possibility for Bachmann at some point as they do other members of the Desiro family.

Although I’ll take a guess it’s possibly the 309 you’re after! I don’t live anywhere near the GEML, but I’d have one of those.

I suspect that maroon 309s with wrap-round windscreens would be very popular.

309s would be a good prospect for a manufacturer I'd think. Could possibly attract more sales by offering a 2-car set for those with less space or disposable income, though at the cost of an extra tooling variation with a pan on a driving car.

I think the variety of carriage combinations -
2-car,
3-car when griddle car removed,
4-car with griddle car,
4-car without griddle car,
Wraparound cab windscreen, vs reinforced flat windscreen.
- for a limited operating-sphere fleet, will actually make this an expensive tooling vs its realistic Return on Investment.

Didn't the 2-car units later get extended to 4-car with the addition two former LHCS trailers? So that's another variation.
Fair point about the windscreen modification, there's also the different hopper windows after refurbishment, a bit like the 4-CEPs. The modified cabs probably have less appeal, but would have a wider choice of regions and liveries.

Yes, the panto-fitted DMBS 2-car sets were augmented to 4 cars. I've a few photos of those in NSE days; also of the "as built" 4-car sets.
I only saw and travelled them in their refurbished guise - the L&SE "Essex Express" and Network Southeast liveries.

Thanks- thought that was the case. Was pretty sure that the original 4-car sets had the pantograph fitted to an intermediate vehicle but thought I'd better check first. The only units I saw "in the metal" were the handful that were cascaded north. Those wore the "North West Express" variant of Regional Railways colours with the green stripe, apart from one which had a special dark blue Manchester Airport livery.

The video of today’s winter announcements can be found here;

The Graham Farish C class is definitely a welcome reintroduction. It is hard to find one of those secondhand on Ebay.

I hope that Graham Farish will use this as an opportunity to further expand its SECR loco range. I would love to see an H class in N gauge, especially if it has decent electrical pickups.

I'm applying Rule 1 here and getting a Southern 313. I liked them at the start but hated them towards the end - however, their presence allowed me a lot of happy times on the Southern Coastway for 13-odd years away from the very stressful day job...

When I used them Watford-Euston ad-hoc in the latter 19i80s, then on Great Northern in the mid 1990s, I recall them being a little noisier (humm and whines) than the 315s.

When I saw their final two months' life on the West Coastway, services, plus on their "death row" final moves, their traction motors absolutely screamed - I've bever heard EMUs so loud.
I suspect that won't be on the OEM sound file! :D

£297.45 at Rails of Sheffield for a brand new tooling of a three car EMU is pretty damn good, to be honest. Surprised they included WAGN, I completely forget they were even a company!

I'm happy with my Revolution 313 pre-orders, although I was very tempted to get a OO one in Southern...

Yes, surprised they went with WAGN, seeing as FCC is absent this run. Doing my best to resist a Southern or NSE one.
Hoping they will release the other PEPs in due course. I will definitely have a 508 in one of the South Eastern liveries, preferably Connex (ducks and runs for cover)
