I'd suggest that the length of the rake matches the number of seats sold. I believe it was selling slowly which was why the tour was extended to York.

45118 has failed just south of Abergavenny, trying to restart it I believe. It sounded ok at Hereford so not sure what happened!

AVR - automatic voltage regulator?

Not that knowing that helps me understand any more, mind you!

These things happen, especially on locos that have only just returned to mainline use after a long restroration. Reports from LSL staff suggest the work has been to a high standard and the loco will be a good performer, any initial issues notwithstanding.

Oh I can see that, it looks the business, and more or less every pres mainline loco has sat down on the job at some point. Are we to take it that tomorrows tour will be 47/8 or is there any chance

Fault rectified, as noted above in post 156. All good for tomorrow.

Seems to be running ahead of time on quite a few legs of the journey today, 8 early at Duffield on the way back which means they get a whole ten minutes of it sat at the platform, which’ll be nice for people at the gala wanting a look! Saw it at Dr Days this morning with about a dozen fellow cranks, nice to see a peak in action again.

Great, many thanks. 47 didnt seem to be helping with the banking, sounds idle.
Imagine how rapid the ascent, if both big Sulzers were at full power 8-):D

Takes me back to the early-mid 1980s: of family trips to my grandparents (Exmouth); we always spent a couple of days at Dawlish & Teignmouth. I've fond memories of the Peaks shaking the foundations, with inter-regional passengers and freights.

They were certainly a very common sight when I was building sandcastles on those beaches as a kid!

The missing path for this has now appeared:

And the Class 50 test run is planned for today too.

I'm very much looking forward to this one, plenty of classic traction over some cracking lines :)

Ahh excellent thanks! Looks like it's doing that stretch in reverse compared to the original plan.

Same! Hopefully getting some good clips out of seeing it.

The 50 has been out on test today top-and-tailed with the 45.

Blimey that was quick :D

How many carriages are in the consist?
I’ll count them at Carlisle if you haven’t got the answer by then :)

Edit: Actually, 11 carriages, 2 locos according to timing sheet.
