I'm hearing there might be a new peak/40 tour being announced soon

The 40 gets used occasionally on Saphos tours anyway, this is even more likely next year if the 47s are going to get some maintenance.

Leaving Wolverhampton around 09.00 we will travel via the West Coast Main Line to Crewe, picking up at both Stafford and Crewe, with the Class 40 leading the way. From Crewe we head off to the North Wales Coast via Beeston Castle & Chester. Class 40s having had a long association with the route from Crewe through to Holyhead & Llandudno. On arrival at Llandudno Jn, the Class 40 will run round and with the Class 45, head off in tandem to Blaenau Ffestiniog. After running round again, the Class 40 will return from Blaenau Ffestiniog passing through Llandudno Jn and arriving in Platform 3 at Llandudno Town. At Llandudno Town there will be the opportunity, for around 90 minutes, to stretch legs and get some bracing sea air.
Leaving Llandudno Town, with the Class 45 leading, we head back along the North Wales Coast to Chester. Class 45s also having had an affinity with the North Wales Coast after the passing of the Class 40s. After a brief reversal at Chester, we head off via Wrexham, Shrewsbury & Telford Central to Wolverhampton with the Class 40 leading. Following a reversal at Wolverhampton, we will return to Crewe with the Class 45 leading, again via the West Coast Main Line. We will be setting down at both Stafford & Crewe.

Ludo Town for a peak.. that's been a while and at a bargain price, if I'm right MK3s can't go to Blaenau so that means the MK1/2 set

If that's the case, I wonder how LSL plan to move/service the carriages overnight if the set is needed on the Steam Dreams "Chester Christmas Market" the day earlier, ending in Colchester. Getting it from Colchester to Wolverhampton in time doesn't seem too bad, but servicing/cleaning them in that time sounds tricky

But either way it attracts the sort of person the specific class bashers hate who will ride behind anything noisy in comfortable trains - and in other news, I'm now booked on

It has used a combination of The Statesman rake and what’s left of the Saphos Mk2s, along with the recently repainted kitchen car.

Yet another great offering from LSL yesterday. No other operator comes close for the experience you get from the onboard staff and their locos are maintained to such a high standard that they rarely disappoint. I've done over 1500 miles behind D213 this year and it hasn't skipped a beat! I also have to commend them on the work they have funded on 45118 - I've always found peaks to be a little bland but man, oh man, did 45118 make some sweet noise yesterday

I was aboard as well, it sounded like the Peak was doing most of the work on the climb up to BFF... Yes, both locos in fine fettle, but the Peak won out for me - the departure from Llandudno was glorious!

Quite possibly one of the best charters I've been on on Saturday-also got "lucky" with the mk2a in the formation, that peak sounded glorious on the run back to Chester!

Couldn't agree more - even those in the air con Mk.2s noted the Peak was audible, and yet the Whistler was not... 118 has a few new fans after that run I reckon!
