One of those road-rail track machine things. I use the Network Rail numbers for them rather than the fleet numbers the individual companies slap on them.

Ah nice, I don't pay attention to those to be honest so I had no idea.

I was expecting to have posted my update, but I'm a little bit behind on other things. I still have my spotting book to update from Saturday yet, for example!

Just to avoid confusion - this lot are all French ( plus a few ICEs and an Italian Pendolino that came along ). Order of presentation each day is: TGVs, locomotives ( Y prefix = shunter ), units ( X prefix =- DMU, Z prefix = EMU, B prefix = Bimode ), trams, traims ( these have TT prefixes ), carriages. Metro is headed as such.

A rather leaner day than I hoped with still one 231 outstanding also does any one know if you can see Canton sidings on the train between Grangetown and Central? I saw a few units but they were too far away to be able to id. Is Ninian Park a better bet?

Be quick to change platforms at Ninian Park, though - it's a fairly tight connection or a fair bit of a fester. Check the timetable carefully and then check the live running on RTT to be sure. You'll want to be near the front of the train to be closest to the ramp down for the dash over...
