0524 Shrewsbury to New St is a two car. Couples up at BHM to become 2x2.
There's also the reverse service (2x2, uncouple) late at night to allow the 2car onto Abbey Foregate yard, ready for the next day.

Is this now a permanent fixture? I was under the belief that 4 cars had appeared due to the coincidence between reduced Covid commuter demand on the Uckfield line and increased Covid leisure demand on the Ashford-Eastbourne line.

Presumably if there’s a return to the office accompanied by reduced U.K. holidays (both likely to happen this year) then Uckfield may well need its 4-cars back. Though on the credit side, presumably cutting back from Brighton to Eastbourne should have freed up at least one unit, perhaps two.

Certainly pre-Covid there was the odd 2-car on the Uckfield line, in particular the peak extra shuttles to/from Oxted.
Sundays on the uckfield line regularly sees a two car unit in operation on its own.

Almost everything from Northern in the North East uses a single 2 car unit. 4 car workings are the exception rather than the norm.

There are a few individual services booked for 4 car formations but no all day diagrams, all 4 car Northern formations in the North East join/split at some point during the day.

Quite a few 2car units on Bristol-Bath-Westbury (and beyond) services, although many are 3car and some coupled to make 5car

It is one of a number of routes where 2car units operate services between cities, mixed within an hour with 9-10 coach trains

GWR Westbury - Swindon services are usually 2 car.

Okehampton services are usually 2 car.

Marlow services are also 2 car, as is the Didcot-Oxford shuttle usually.

There will be many examples on the GWR, EMR, Northern, TfW and ScotRail networks!

All Northern services at Sheffield scheduled for 2 car are operated singly. Cannot think of any 2 x 2 at Sheffield although Scarborough and Hope valley are 3 car

Bidston to Wrexham is always a 2 car 150.

Not quite as the OP asked, but single (1car) class 153 units are still used on the Crewe-Shrewsbury stopper and the Heart of Wales.

The Inverurie-Montrose shuttle has always been a single 158 from what I can remember which in my experience has been more than sufficient.

Sometimes there's solo150/1s, 150/2s or 156s on the Manchester Piccadilly to Chester route. TfW also operate 2 car 175s frequently on the Manchester Piccadilly (or Airport?) to Milford Haven route.
