I would guess it was a typing error, and should say 156422, which is going to Wolverton for refurbishment.

Yeah, that'll be why, the 317/5s and Mark 3s have it so it is just easier to keep them. They were only put on the 156s 2006-2008 anyways so they aren't old.

Internally, it doesn't look like much has been done apart from the red hand-holds. They really should have replaced the seat covers and reinstated the pull-down tables. Surely that wouldn't have cost much? :roll:

This unit has just had a feature on local news bulletin from the BBC catching on to the end of the News at 10. I'm not sure of it appeared on the main BBC Look East at 1830 BBC One.

Certainly looks good and looks to be in service.

In my honest opinion, it looks absolutely terrible. Although I am glad they kept the same seats, which I find a lot more comfortable than the seats on the 170s.

In that interview it mentions a 158 being hired in, what route is this to be working on.

EMT 158s are sometimes hired in to work Norwich-Lowestoft/Great Yarmouth Wherry Line services.

05:36 Norwich - Lowestoft
06:35 Lowestoft - Norwich

unit sits spare in Norwich station from 07:19 until the 19:33 Gt Yarm service:

19:33 Norwich - Great Yarmouth
20:17 Great Yarmouth - Norwich
unit then goes across to Crown Point, and is booked to return to Norwich Carriage sidings at 22:59.

It is the same unit that does both services above.

Not quite. The unit is not an all day hire, its just the addition of a PM fill-in turn in the same vein as the morning one and certainly does not sit spare all day.

Looking at OTT, the later services are timed for "Class 158 - 90mph", so this certainly seems to be correct. Thanks very much for the info
Great Yarmouth are lucky, as the 158s are much more comfortable than the 153s and 156s they get normally.
I assume the unit changes on a day-to-day basis, so all EMT 158s can get to Nottingham Eastcroft for servicing.
