57209 & 57212 Have gone to Eastleigh works for one of the vehicle to be fitted with a toilet. The set will then be formed as a 2 car (number unknown yet).

Reliable source for this? Various stories abound regarding these vehicles, but nothing confirmed officially it seems.

Both vehicles left Tyseley some days ago, using a Gbrf driver I believe. According to a former colleague at Tys. 153399 is only short term due to problem with a 150 vehicle. Running round in a permanent hybrid formation is not ideal as it restricts use due to platform lengths & 153's not aloud to wander to far on the southern.

150122 has arrived at Fgw!!

Just about to post the same thing around the same time Tony

Well, here's the updated list again!

The list of projected dates into service for the "new" FGW Sprinters:

Now in use with FGW - 153325, 153333, 150101, 150102, 150108, 150126 & 150202

(150122) Available for use from 26th Sep
(150124) Available for use from 3rd Oct
(150104) Available for use from 10th Oct
(150106) Available for use from 17th Oct
(150125) Late Oct
(150216) Late Oct

This has not been confirmed officialy yet but there is a report on the FGW coffee shop forum that FGW may get the 3 carriage non standard class 150's, aparantly for the Reading - Bassingstoke service to release some turbo's

Good! An idea which i hope goes ahead, not just because i do rather like a good 150, but because it offers a win-win situation for everyone across the Thames Valley - They get there services extended by an extra 2/4 cars, and Basingstoke to Reading gets its extended up to 3 Cars, something that on major London Irish match days, is needed! The St Patricks day matches being one of them!...But, on the flip side, they would require a good refurbishment before use, and how are you going to include the First Class section into it?

57209 & 57212 Have gone to Eastleigh works for one of the vehicle to be fitted with a toilet. The set will then be formed as a 2 car (number unknown yet).

Not from what i know of so far - Something that also seems to be almost denied by Mr Bruce himself, over on WNXX - Id take it as a case of We Shall See! A toilet would be ideally required to remove the 150 from the DfTs NoN Standard Rolling Stock list, but...Id think that would only come when a new operator is finalised for it, and when whoevers taken it on, is prepared to part finance the fitment....But as for now, As far as i know of, it's only in for storage - just as 001 & 002 Will be from next month!

Out of general curiosity, has anyone ever tried putting a gangway connection in the front of a 150/1?

Short answer NO.

Long answer. You would have to fit New cabs and vestibules with power doors. You could say that the 150/1 with gangway connections is a 150/2.

First of all, 150102 is repainted. Also, 150216 is still in Brum as I saw it today at Moor St in service! So it isn't at FGW. You probably mean 214 or 202. Also, why make the 150/1s ugly and fit on the doors. Personally, they look a whole lot better without end doors! Rant over!

Went on 001 today and was comfy, warm and very smart. Pleasure to ride on! Glad to get yet another ride!

Unless 150102 was painted in the small hours this morning then I can assure you it is not repainted as I fpx'ed it last night!!! And also it is 150214 at Barton hill as 150202 is currently being modded and having a conversion exam to bring it up to Fgw exam program!!

I know that but are they not locked with a t-key?

I believe they are only locked with a key from an outside. There is a lock on the inside of the door to prevent it opening, but to unlock the lock you don't need a key.

They might not look so good in your opinion but having end gangway connections is so much more practical.

Much more practical to have end corridor connections and I actually think 150/2s look better than 150/1s. I think that applies to any unit with a flat front (rather than a streamlined one like a Voyager). For example, one reason I don't like 175s is they look so bland/boring (although that's partly to do with them being painted in ATW's very bland standard livery), tried photoshoping one once with end corridor connections and a different livery and it looked much better.

Can you imagine a corridor connection on a pacer? The reason 185's don't have them is for drivers benefit.

Surely the reason is that corridors weren't asked for in the contract. Driver benefits will be an effect of that, not the reason, surely?

I think it was 185 (the user not the train ;)) said he spoke with the MD of TPE at the time the contract was being drawn up about the lack of corridor connections and he said that "we don't want our drivers to work in broom cupboards" or words to that effect.

Sightings of Central livered 150's at Newton Heath have been posted on another forum. Looks like Northern have started to receive their allocation.

I expect they'll just have to get used to gangways on their 350s though...

One would hope that the MD of TPE has realised how stupid it was not to specify gangway connections on the 185s and so they won't try and repeat the mistake this time round.
