Are all Amtrak trains reservations compuslory?

Probably best to assume that all trains require reservations but there are a few exceptions, such as some shorter routes out of Chicago.

Probably inevitable that Stale would go after the shocking performance v. Mick's Ipswich and the Scandinavian approach was never likely to work in the rough and tumble of the Championship. Is Mr Curbishley going to be interested?

Another good result for Wolves following three consecutive wins. We need to concentrate on the Championship and win promotion - then we can face the likes of Chelsea more often.

It's more about filthy lucre than football, unfortunately: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/may/21/success-chelsea-manchester-city-high-price Wolves may be back in the Championship but at least the air there is cleaner.

Only the second time in 75 Premier League matches that Wolves have been involved in a goalless draw. I think that the plan is to win every game from now on with a miraculous climax v. Wigan to confirm survival. It'll be a good trick if they can do it.

Still 15 points available to WW. Might as well play adventurously as we don't seem to have much of a defence. It seems a so-so Man U have the title again, which shows how lacklustre the PL has become. Also shows how far mind games, diving and intimidation of referees will get you. Not that...

A good first half against Bolton but as soon as we let in a goal - and we always do - confidence disappears. Shouldn't take too long to return to the PL if we can find a decent manager (Chris Hughton?), hold on to key players and sort out the defence. Of course, there are still 21 points to...

Has America run out of Actors ?

How did he manage to win an Oscar for The Untouchables, where he played an allegedly Irish character with a broad Scottish accent? I blame the Americans.

Has America run out of Actors ?

That would be overrated Meryl Streep playing the even more overrated Mrs T. Never understood why film producers make things difficult for themselves by casting foreign actors who then have to cope with an accent as well as everything else. Gwyneth Paltrow and Renée Zellweger are very...

Seeing the top teams outclassed in Europe suggests that the Premier League isn't nearly as good as it's cracked up to be, so maybe Wolves still have a chance. Rumour has it that Gary Megson will take over from Terry Connor for the rest of the season.

The Championship is certainly less predictable and less dominated by money, and the atmosphere is more like football used to be back in the old First Division. It would be nice to survive in the top flight but not at the expense of selling out to some dodgy foreigner and buying in a bunch of...

    USA by Rail

The new edition of Bradt's USA by Rail guidebook has just been published. It covers train travel throughout the United States and Canada and has chapters about railroad history, modern steam trains, etc. There's always room for improvement, though! As the book's author, I would welcome any...

Not nice to watch for long-suffering Wolves fans. We might get six points from the upcoming Blackburn and Bolton games and hang on till the end of the season but it doesn't look promising. Wouldn't put it past us to lose both these and beat Man U. Anyway, it's more fun in the Championship...

Shocking performance by WW. Strong support from Roy Hogson for the manager but perhaps Mick's done all he can for us and we need to move on.

Benefit Caps: Good, bad or indifferent?

Seems reasonable enough though there will be hard cases, especially involving children, and many will end up being housed by local authorities at council tax payers expense so the savings are probably small. Vastly more money could be recouped from rich people who arrange their affairs so as to...

Or you can go by rail, though it takes two trains to do it. My recommendations would be Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited from New York to Chicago then the California Zephyr from Chicago to San Francisco.

Last Sunday's exciting game could prove crucial. An encouraging fightback spirit that bodes well and Mick looked relieved. He's talking about strengthening midfield in January so all should be fine and we'll be spared the usual nail-biting end to the season...
