I think if you are a bit unfamiliar the Metro may be the best bet -you can also get a rail add on onto most tickets to Newcastle that allows travel on the metro anywhere within the Newcastle/Gateshead zone
I had a slightly similar situation where I tried to buy a Lancashire Day ranger off similar staff at Preston - chap said he couldn't do it - I guess that was only because he wasn't sure what do to do? He let me through and advised me to purchase at ticket office which I did.
Apologies if this has been answered already, but does anyone know how often there are instances with the passenger TOCs where drivers and/or conductors work trains of a different TOC?
Examples I know of are:-
Scarborough - Hull and Barton - Cleethorpes (TPE staff working on Northern units)...
Then there are stations which i think are in a bit of a grey area - those that are long-standing unstaffed ones, particularly on Northern but have recently had ticket machines fitted. An example of this that I know is Burnley Manchester Road. However I get the impression that on train staff are...
Hi - if memory serves me correctly the Freedom of Scotland Travelpass is more generous with bus options compared to the Highland Rover if you are using a lot of buses. I remember I was toying with getting the two different tickets when I did a tour of the Highland lines a few years ago but opted...
Yeah would be nice to see a 3 car variant and a Northern Rail livery variant ! It is a superbly detailed model - my only criticism is I find it a bit of a plodder performance wise? Do others find it the same?
Shame they didn't bring out a class 317 too as you'd have thought it would be...
Hi,
I've recently purchased a class 150 by Bachmann and noticed that they come with a set of cosmetic couplings and a snowplough which looks really realistic when shown on the publicity photos.
Does anyone know how these attach to the unit? Do they click in or do they require glueing ...
Thanks for all your comments, as you say the ticket is exceptional good value especially when you consider the standard single ferry fares, I assumed it was just too good to be true! Used one today with no problems. Two ferry trips, two bus trips through the tunnel and serveral merseyrail trips...
Hi
Does anyone know the exact validity of the Merseytravel day tickets on ferries ? The website seems a little vague - are these only valid on journeys on Monday to Friday as weekend journeys seem more geared to the leisure market - are these classed as cruises? It says not valid on cruises...
Arriva North East have about ten I think but with the recent new bus deliveries they are receiving they are in the process of being withdrawn so you'll have to be quick ! I know TGM at Harlow used to have some a few years back but not sure if they still do ?
I came across a video for the Lighthouse Family and hadn't realised there was a few shots of 156s and 142s in Newcastle - looks like an old brown and cream one :D :-

another one I like is Hue and Cry's Looking for Linda:-...
I'm not sure if this is actually true or is just an urban myth - but aren't 14x Pacers barred from any electrified line with 3rd rail? Presumably this is because of the excessive bogie movement may get too close ?
Hi,
Can anyone confirm that 14x DMUs actually cause more track wear than say a sprinter or is this just a myth?
I'd presume tyre profiles would need redoing more frequenctly than 15x's but does anyone know for sure?
