Northern online delay repay - auto rejecting multiple passengers.

After having claims rejected and then appealing, I’ve finally got Northern to cough up for delay repay for journeys that my parents and I took on the same day back in June. Me - Lancashire to Cumbria on an off peak day return. Mum and Dad travelling together - South Yorkshire to Yorkshire coast...

    Cumbria Travel Pass

Has these been discussed since the detsils of validity have become available? https://travelpass.northernrailway.co.uk/#/pass/cumbria_pass/ https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/tickets-railcards-offers/promotions/cumbria-travel-pass/ £40 for 1 day, £99 for three consecutive days. Children half...

“Buy before you board” - policy where ticket buying facilities are a long way away from the train

Distance and steps aside, one situation where this shouldn’t be happening is where passengers are forced to use a foot crossing to access ticket buying facilities. See the recommendations of the report into the fatal Elsenham station pedestrian crossing accident...

Settle / Giggleswick ticket interchangeability / easement?

Settle/Giggleswick - my understanding is that you'll have no problems there. As for the other station pairs Horton/Clapham & Ribblehead/Bentham, this was something that Northern did at one time permit. It was confirmed at the time in writing and promoted in the Friends of the Settle Carlisle...

Cemetery buses - is Merseytravel 129 the last survivor?

Respectfully done, of course. All Hallow’s Eve in the traditional sense. Just like a normal passenger.

Cemetery buses - is Merseytravel 129 the last survivor?

Wasn’t it mentioned in a recent tread that the 129 may not survive Merseyside bus franchising? I’ve been thinking of taking a trip just for the experience. Halloween 2027 falls on a Sunday, which seems like an appropriate day to travel, so I hope that it lasts until at least then.

Help with tickets for a journey in Lincolnshire

I’d say the best strategy (starting the journey from Bulwell to officially allow use of the Robin Hood Line, but in reality I doubt anyone would bat an eyelid if the OP started from Nottingham) could be an off-peak day-return to Barton on Humber, route “via Lincoln”, excessing the outward...

    Senior Railcard Survey

    Yes there was. https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/dales-railcard-changes-from-jan-2022.226109/#post-5473109

    Senior Railcard Survey

When morning peak restriction were introduced for the Dales Railcard, the changes were applied to existing, as well as new, railcard holders. I seem to recall that if you complained about it then Northern offered to cancel and refund your existing railcard.

    Northern Explorer - new ticket?

Any more information on the Cumbria Travel Pass? It not being found on TVMs or in BFRfares could just mean that it will have a later launch date, but what I’m worried about is it being, heaven forbid, an online or app based only ticket.

    Northern Explorer - new ticket?

It seems a big oversight that the Cumbria area rover and ranger changes didn’t make it into the latest Coast, Lakes, Dales and Fells timetable booklet, valid from last weekend. I wonder when the ticket changes are actually going live? https://coastandlakestraintimetable.co.uk/current-timetable

Penalty fare for daughter using complimentary delay repay ticket

It’s a bit of a ridiculous restriction, but it seems that the OP’s daughter has broken the rules by using a gifted ticket. On the other hand, Northern are asking passengers to transfer supposedly untransferable complementary tickets to their travelling companions if they were travelling as a...

Penalty fare for daughter using complimentary delay repay ticket

How does this fit with Northern’s Delay Repay system allowing you to claim for more than one ticket on a delayed journey? “- you travelled with other passengers on the same journey and are claiming for your ticket and theirs. Note that if you are claiming as part of a group then it is your...

Long or high railway bridges you can walk over

Not high, and not sure if it counts as long, but Ravenglass Viaduct over the estuary just north of the station has a pedestrian walkway attached to the side of it. The footpath is well below the level of the tracks, so be grateful that modern train toilets now flush into tanks rather than out...

    Northern Explorer - new ticket?

I noticed these on a TVM today. Quite a selection of fares for differing number of days and differing numbers of passengers. I note that the old Explorer 55 has been renamed Explorer 55 West. I suspect that the new tickets will be ALL the Northern network, a bit like the newspaper offer...

Merseyrail Daysaver vs Saveaway (+ early morning validity)

Section 5.1 of the Saveaway T&Cs seems to have changed at some point. It used to be "Each time you pass through a rail ticket barrier, it counts as a separate journey", etc. So you could start a rail journey before 6.30am and, for example, change between Northern and Wirral lines at Liverpool...

Are there problems at Kirkby Lonsdale Buses?

Somebody owns and uses the old Settle bus garage. I recently saw somebody parking their car inside it.

East-West Doncaster avoiding lines (current usage)

I remember a test train going that way some months ago, but I don’t think that it currently has any revenue earning traffic. Telling is the fact that there are regular Google Glassworks to London paths (not sure if the trains actually run) that could go that way, but are instead routed through...

East-West Doncaster avoiding lines (current usage)

I believe that the OP is thinking if the northern end of the South Yorkshire Joint Line (Low Ellers to Kirk Sandal junctions) rather than the Doncaster avoiding line (Hexthorpe to Bentley junctions).

Termini that are much quieter than a nearby station

Headbolt Lane passenger figures are less than Kirkby.
