Slightly off topic but aren’t gb expecting the same reliability/availability as the 66 (from a 69)

Cost I feel may have something to do with that, you can’t buy a 66 anymore, a 69 is in the region of 1.5million. I suspect 60’s would be ready for use having spent considerably less than a 69, which depending on what contract they have lined up for them may work out well for them.

Gb would make sense, although I wonder if they wish these had been for sale when they decided to turn 56’s into 69’s

Would be nice to see more of them back on the mainline rather than just rotting at Toton

Class 141 didn’t last all to long in comparison to the rest of the pacer fleet

Northern

Recently went through interview for a rolling stock engineer, although it was for already qualified/skilled. I took from that the norm is 2/3rds of the shifts are nights. But as you said depots will have many different shift patterns.

Slightly off topic although related. Would a large windowed train be possible considering the strict guidelines rolling stock is built to (im thinking structural strength etc etc)

Seems to vary between tocs and manufacturers. Not the mention the vast array of sub contractors attached to both (MTU for example)

Personally wouldn’t have an issue with it, so long as it came in the form of a refund for the paying 1st passengers.

Quick question for anyone who has had contact with northern since interview. I had a missed call from HR today and was unable to get back in touch. Anyone able to shed any light on weather this is good or bad news.

As the title says, will the class 395 ever be deployed on other routes other than hs1. Im not upto speed on them and my only real reasoning for asking this question is i know the 373's worked the ecml.

im fairly sure the db job portal makes you add a cv, which when its such a basic application process will likely make all the difference

Yep that did cross my mind, I was sort of approached as I currently do a lot of work on rail power. Have been promised I would be mainly on heavy maintenance or engine work.

From experience, I got no notification of the talent pool expiring. Although it did coincide with a franchise change over which I don’t assume will have helped things.

Both run the same power pack so I would have thought any increase in external noise would be down the the exhaust or intake set up (ie increased turbo whine from a less effective air filter).
