    I was on 2U63 the 2003 from London Waterloo to Windsor and Eton Riverside on 701042 and both toilets were out of service. The guard didn't seem to be aware when he made his welcome announcement, because he just said where the toilets were.

    IIRC tracks are generally maintained to the minimum standard required for slow freight trains. If a section of track is especially bad the usual tactic is to impose a "slow order" (speed restriction) if possible to avoid the need to repair it.
