    ENCTS changes to Disabled Passes

It doesn't however say what the £60m was earmarked for, which will now not be funded. I am fully supportive of the change which is long overdue but until we are told what previously planned activities are now not going to happen, I think caution is required. Money doesn't just sit in...

    National express West Midlands

Please excuse my ignorance but do all staff TUPE across in these circumstances? Engineering? Commercial? Finance? Not all staff are allocated to specific garages. 1787066155 Agree completely. However until franchising is complete, Parker will not be able to hide behind the contractor because it...

    National express West Midlands

Spot on. This deal appears to leave the staff working for a zombie company which is not going to bid for franchises in WM. I guess they may get TUPE over to the successful bidder but some uncertainty going forward. Surprised how low the price was but it seems to solve a number of financial...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

But didn't last the day; replaced by 44917. Hopefully teething troubles.

Thank goodness. 44916/7 are on their last legs......

    Go Cornwall Bus

I'm sadly old enough to remember dual door Nationals and Atlanteans in Plymouth's fleet but I take the point... Time will tell. I'm more interested in where First will redeploy the better Kernow stock!

    Go Cornwall Bus

They could potentially use them in Plymouth routes within the city where the street furniture allows, and move the newer existing stock to Cornwall. But I somehow doubt they will. Whether they will spend money to convert them to single door? I'd say marginal. Most London buses of this age will...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Yes the chassis was the problem. Weymouth had a batch of these, nominally for the Portland route. The hill out of Portland killed them regularly, and they tended to be off the road or on less punishing routes. As others have said, B10BLEs were fine buses and coped whatever was thrown at them...

    Bee Network Service/Route Discussion

Even by the normal standards of TfGMs normal self- congratulatory media releases, this one is a masterpiece. Presumably there has been no improvement in punctuality or reliability stats, otherwise it would have been mentioned. I don't live in GM though I have family there so visit...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Hilsea needs 1 (in practice 2) for the 22 route which even Solos struggle with. Not sure what the left turning circle is like on these e200MMCs though..... The existing 09 reg 44916/7 at Hilsea are almost the last of that batch still in service with First nationwide and it seems an obvious...

First Hampshire & Dorset (Wessex, Dorset & South Somerset)

I'm not sure First are really to blame. They told DCC what commercial services they were able to provide. The council could have chosen to provide more services by subsidizing them. They initially chose not to, but after adverse publicity found some money down the back of a sofa to subsidize...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

I had the same thought, but then found out that the 20 from Fareham to Wickham is ceasing in September. Loss of HCC subsidies. Seems a bizarre decision since there are 6000 houses being built along part of the route and they don't have a particularly high subsidy per passenger journey but...

    Go South Coast

Like you, I would have thought that maintaining the 15 minute frequency through the peak say +2 PVR, maybe plus an extra for the Peter Symonds peak flows should be sufficient. The BSIP money has to be spent soon, and bus priority measures take time to plan and deliver. But I'm guessing where...

    Go South Coast

My experience as a not infrequent off peak traveller on BS 1 is that no increase in off peak frequency is justified. I can't comment on peak loadings. However a PVR increase of 5 suggests a 10 minute frequency. However Hampshire CC, who have just decided not to renew the tender of my local...

TfGM Bee Network - fleet discussion

If If you'll excuse the pun, that's not a very bright idea, to put it mildly, particularly when multiple paint shops are involved!

    Go South Coast

Indeed it is, though the vehicles run dead to/from Winchester. The morning 49 bus normally finds it's way back to Botley in the evening on the 1745 to Wickham, whilst the afternoon 49 normally runs from Botley dead to Alton(!) to take up the 0725 64 to Winchester. 1749726153 Great minds think...

    Bee Network Service/Route Discussion

It's a shame that the experience of the operators in dealing with congestion (whatever the cause) has been lost. One of the disbenefits of TfGM taking control. Presumably the operator's punctuality and cancellation stats are also adversely affected. Given TfGM are effectively the TCs, I guess...

First Hampshire & Dorset (Wessex, Dorset & South Somerset)

Tend to agree, although I think in practice the PVR of the Swanage will be 3; turnround looks too tight otherwise. It would certainly up the competition with More if they were open tops!

RMT order members not to load railcard discounts?

If I were RMT, I would want staff enabling passengers to get the discounts they have paid for. In my view this makes it harder for the employer/DfT to reduce staff numbers, which most folk expect to come under pressure in the future. Being able to show RMT on the side of the passenger surely...

RMT order members not to load railcard discounts?

Agreed. However if a task becomes a major activity within the job then the job description should be amended to reflect this. Personally I think RMT are being quite short sighted in the approach to this. In the meantime passengers are suffering yet again.
