To throw a bit of a curve ball here.
When the 4 tracking is complete, would a service from Huddersfield up the Calder Valley to Hebden and beyond, be feasible or desirable.
Also with Town Northern have put direct services back from Bolton. Horwich Parkway actually.
(Also the Wembly special to the play off final and back, but that was a charter I suppose)
I certainly hope not.
My personal experience of these services are they are rapidly gaining usage on the "new" section, east of Huddersfield.
Increasing services should be on the agenda after the upgrade.
Daughter getting married in Gelida, near Barcelona.
I need to be there for Saturday 25th May.
Decided I was interailing almost straight away. For decency's sake allowed an extra day for contingencies, but I am quite good at planning. 5 days Senior Pass a-ready I'm away on Thursday 23rd.
Set off...
If it's similar to the LNER method it is really simple.
I've recently booked the 7.15ish train Wakefield to King's Cross - 23/5
Just needed the interrail number.
And we'll say,
"I remember when all this was just grim, desolate, industrial wasteland. That were afore t'railway spoiled it with its modern fields and its up to date grassy banks"
It didn't have the restriction last time, or if it did, it didn't work.
We did 6 trips, leaving another 4 unused at lockdown.
All booked on one account.
Hey-hum.
