TPE sale has allowed me to purchase tickets for one trip (HUD>LIVret 2 adults) and now says I can't buy anymore with this offer.
If this is the same for all, make sure you buy your 1st preference.
And no "through" advances.
So for eg. LDS to EDB will need 2 tickets, LDS to NCL, and NCL to EDB, to be booked separately.
If you can do it, 2 quid each way would still be a phenomenal bargain.
Why not an extra semi-fast, calling Huddersfield-Penistone-Barnsley-Meadohall-Sheffield only.
This wouldn't reduce or increase service to the shacks, but one train per hour at Lockwood, Berry Brow et al, is enough. I'd go as far as to say more than enough.

I have an off-peak return from Huddersfield to Burnage.
On the outward journey would I be allowed to take the train to Levenshulme and walk to Burnage from there?
The price to both stations is the same.
Yes of course it is entirely reasonable. The new train crew have not seen any of the passengers before and cannot know whether they have tickets/Railcards.
But maybe traincrew starting at LDS, upon seeing a ticket Newcastle > Liverpool could reasonably be expected to assume the railcard has...
