Hi
Can any TPE Sheffield drivers tell me what it’s like there?
Are there many nights etc?
A copy of the roster would be perfect if possible.
Many thanks !
Thanks for that info. Perhaps once the depot is more established the roster will be shaken up.
There seems to be a pay gap opening up between Operators but the pandemic hasn’t helped.
I mean it won’t attract Qualified Drivers away from other companies.
Yes there will be Trainees queuing up as usual but they aren’t advertising for trainees currently.
Very odd roster. 4 weeks of late on the trot at one point. Sunday’s inside and if the salary is right on Aslefs website, good luck getting applicants for that!
Hi there, hope you don’t mind me butting in here but what are the earliest booking on times, latest booking off times and are there any nights? I have an interview for Leamington Spa. Thanks
Every company has its own policy on coupling in service. It’s based on risk assessment and requirement. London Northwestern can do it with less risk of injury to passengers thanks to the slow speed setting and auto couplers on Desiro units.
Most frequently wrong routes accepted and taken by the driver is when the driver frequently uses both potential routes e.g. going through the middle road when booked to stop at a station in a loop. It’s extremely rare for a driver to accept a route they do not sign. For example on the...
They do on Chiltern. They hate the 172’s and much prefer the Clubman or Mk3 trains.
The 172’s have a plastic interior with rubber flooring so they rattle and shake.
I used to drive 172’s for Chiltern and they do suit stop/start work hence why they were used a lot on the Gerrards Cross terminators. Once or twice I managed 95mph between stops at Northolt Park and West Ruislip! They typically change gear 15/25/35/45/55 mph which means they’re forever going up...
It’s a small improvement but hardly was worth buying new trains at the time. Class 172 don’t even get into top gear until above 50mph and the line is mostly 45mph.
1 per month leaving Overground and going to Ilford for toilet fitting. 710’s currently route testing on the GOBLIN and fault free running on WCML. As a temporary measure they’ve knocked a carriage out on a 379 to run that on the GOBLIN for now. IMHO they should never wasted the money on the...
Ahh ok well I’ll wait and see what the contract says when it comes through. I can’t imagine many drivers wanting to come across taking a pay cut. I’ve been offered a position at Oxford. How about yourself?
Hi Tiptoptaff thanks for your detailed answer. I am a qualified driver and have recently been offered a position with GWR. I have been told that I will go in on the new ‘GWR’ contract. I have yet to receive contract but should go in on full pay. I’m wondering what the current GWR rate is...
