May be a naive question.... But what exactly does a 08 shunter require to gain mainline running permission? Is there preset guidelines which stipulates what is required? Thanks in advance..
Just a thought.... does this include the Wag Express?? and doesnt ATW have additional spare stock sat waiting in Canton?? seems madness if the overcrowding is this bad...
Exactly my reason for the original post on this thread... There has been suggested plans past and present without no action at all.... I have heard from a source within Stena at Holyhead port that the plans are all set ...it's just waiting for the money fairy to drop some magic dust...
Hello,
Just an inquisitive question... I was under the impression that were tentative plans to improve the A55 roadway into the port at Holyhead..this in turn would have led to a new Train Maintenance depot .Does anybody know if these plans are still in place if at all.... Many thanks
A couple of points here, I agree the demise of W & S was a very sad affair however it no longer exists for whatever political reason, and the WAG customer results are always very commendable which should be applauded in the same manner.
The 2nd point refers to the "Agency" that provides the chef...
As I was at Canton during this time.. I feel I can put reality towards some very 'off the mark' comments and smears towards a very dedicated workforce at Canton.
Your remark "not only was the work simply not being done" is bang out of order. As others have commented the new regimes in place...
Have heard a rumour from an unconfirmed source that a certain Rail refurbishment company in Cardiff has the contract to refurb the Mark 3 coaches in readiness for use on both WAG's... Seems the WAG's will be around for a while yet.....?
And again both sets (if both run) parked up at Canton for six hours each is mindless, when franchise trains run standing room only.

I totally understand your points on trains sat not in passenger service earning revenue.
However, the main...
Did I say its does have to ?? NO!!
What i did offer is ... the activities that do take place during the turnaround...
Please do not insult my intelligence with un-informed remarks!!
Whilst I do not want to get deeply involved, I think I must point out that your quote referring to "leaving trains In sidings for six hours like WAG1" is totally incorrect.
The whole maintenance regime is set up and managed in the downtime between the return journey..All this is set up at...
To put this to bed once and for all... I would suggest that when you are onboard passenger counting in 1st Class you ask the on board staff and I am 100% certain the reply will be "certainly Sir what what would you like"?
A tad incorrectly reporting by the article writer there I'm afraid.
Is this quote based on fact or misguided assumptions? As whenever I have been onboard there are far more than 3 ( staff members) using this facility, and not staff may I add..
