Sorry but must correct your post there:
Reason the 57's are left running is predominantly down to the lack of 'shore supply' facilities at both Canton and Holyhead. Without power the staff cannot carry out their buffet car prep at Canton..as well as the maintenance required. The 57 is...
And if as is proposed above, where (as is the case now) do you fit in planned maintenance??.... And before I get shot down in flames...Holyhead depot does not have the capability to fully maintain such a rake....So put in the maintenance requirements formulae and you will find downtime is at a...
Yes RFM 10259 is used in regular service, with RFM 10249 hot spare stood at Canton..Also, 10259 has the "meeting " area partition removed whereas 10249 still has it fitted.
Rhydgaled;745905]How many seats are in the RFM on the 57 hauled express? Shear guesswork, but with the kitchen taking up a fair proportion of the coach 10 passengers is probablly almost 50% occupancy.
RFM's in use 10259 primarily and back up vehicle 10202 have as follows:
23 seats with...
Yes definitely right, 43300 is indeed in the 'new' East Coast livery similar to recent class 91's repaints...look damm good too!!
Just wondering how many different livery types East Coast need?
To confirm...ex EMT 43072 was enroute to works for MTU engine fitment...43300 is currently on NL ....EC64 will have 43074 and 43300 after repairs are completed...
Hope this helps?:o
Hi, here's some of the facts you requested:
Fuelling Depots.
Canton - Class 121,142,143,150,153,158,175 an 57 Locos.
Machy - Class 158's only
Holyhead - Class 150/158/175/ Virgin Voyagers.
Chester (Alstom) Class 175/158
Crewe (LNWR) Class 150/153/158
Landore depot has been used in an...
To be honest.. "sectioned off" is not strictly correct, in that it is just the area of 4 x 2 seating directly next to the Kitchen entrance...This is how the coach was inherited from previous TOC's.
It is indeed open to any fare paying 1st class passenger , and is used.
As I have stated...RFM...
Apologies Merlodlliw , As a employed member of our Welsh TOC , I read all relevant posts with interest. I must ask the question... Have you ever used or travelled on this service? You raise some very contentious opinions mostly very scathing re -WAG 1 and more recently WAG 2.Some I have to...
Support? Do you mean "this fast fading type of service needs as much state subsidy as possible"? Why does this one train a day (which carries the leader of[[B]/B] Plaid) need significantly better facilities than all the other ATW services?
Whilst I can fully understand the apparent concerns...
I have read this with some interest and must say I am disappointed to see the on board chef's copping the flak due to the cost of running the express service. As a railway worker who has worked closely with the chefs in question I find I must reiterate what the service was meant to provide.
A...
Hi All,
Just an enquiry to see if any members know of any impending plans to relocate the light Train Maintenance facility at Holyhead...I have read in the past that there was plans to reconfigure the A55 road layout into the port.. Is this still intended to happen soon or is it another plan...
Am a little surprised that ATW's Wag Express journey from Cardiff hasn't managed a mention. Having travelled the full journey to Holyhead several times I must say the current on board chefs are top notch in my opinion Definitely no 'ping' dinners at all. And on the early morning journey down...
Train drivers at ATW are on nowhere near 50k!!
As for 'rocket science', only 'rocket science' is.... Well... Rocket science. Ultimately many of these senior managers get double or more what a train driver does, and 3x what I earn. They may have 'responsibility' for budgets etc but if they...
[I][QUOTE How many 153s have been treated- haven't heard much whilst the spotlight has been on 175s..
Just 153367 through Refurb at Canton... 153320 currently progressing
C6x works being undertaken at LNWR Crewe prior to refurb at Canton
Looking forward to the 158 work!
As known...
Ahhh Ok ..well on the recent journeys I have made there were no signs of any 'faggots'....
But surely this type of service has warranted a South North return??
I personally think the ATW North-South service is top drawer.. albeit only 1 return journey per day..With the current on board chefs they are cooking top-notch meals every day, maybe the reason they have been voted the best in class dining facility ?? Would anyone know if a 'WAG 2 ' is on the...
