Ordering food to be delivered to trains.

Would Pizza Express only deliver to class 1 (or 9) passenger trains? Is there a Pizza Ordinary delivering to class 2 trains?

All cross country services suspended 23/08/26

Surely XC potentially moving into BROC might mitigate one risk, but create another.

Works for me too. Good to see the site is alive and well.

Arundel still has an art deco style box; is it still used?

    Cheers, thanks.

    Charing Cross Renewals

Thanks. Forgot that switch diamonds are classed as "point ends". Is each switch diamond considered as two point ends?

    Charing Cross Renewals

Was watching the Green Signals podcast where Richard Bowker was looking around Charing Cross. I seem to recall that an engineer said that they had reduced the number of point ends from (I think) 18 to 16. Has the layout changed slightly; anyone know?

Long or high railway bridges you can walk over

Has anyone mentioned the long footbridge across TfLs Morden depot of the Northern Line?

How is a commuter only train defined?

Would munition workers going to Cold Meece (near Stone) during WW2 have been regarded as "commuters", or was the term not widely used in Britain then?

    Kings Cross Platform Rules

Think 1st class passengers might be miffed if they had to walk to a footbridge at the north end of the platform to leave the station. Unless LNER put 1st class at the north end of their trains...

    Kings Cross Platform Rules

Maybe folks get jittery when they can't see the trains. Even at most airports, one can see the plane you're about to catch from the gate. The worst rail experiences seem to be where passengers have to wait away from sight of the trains; Euston and now it seems, KX too.

Stations with "Train Approaching" bells (Trivia)

Branksome had one for the down platform until at least a couple of years ago. The station is in a cutting on a slight reverse curve.

SWR WoE line — do they know something we don’t?

Politically, terminating the Exeter/Salisbury to London services at Basingstoke would be a BIG no-no.

Trivia: shortest train journey crossing a national border (both within the UK and abroad)?

    Cobbs historical rail atlas

Has the market for Cobb's finally peaked? I bought a copy of the Revised Reprint (2005) in vgc for under £90 last week, and that included p&p. The bindings were strong and in good nick, too. There seems to be confusion in listings for this work, especially by sellers on eBay who mix-up the...

How difficult is it to arrive or leave at all timetabled platforms. 5 year project to achieve this.

Always enjoy your ramblings. Do you have an index or some such, where we can see where you've been? I only ask as I was at Nutfield for nearly two hours last Saturday (grandson at a birthday party nearby). As I waited on the platform (one train per hour), I thought of your escapades and waiting...

Avanti putting 9 car Pendolinos on Anglo-Scottish services

Wonder if more 11-cars will work on the Glasgows in the next few weeks, with the upcoming (poorly advertised) Commonwealth Games in that city.
