Any Class 37s allocated on Saturday?

Where can I see one in action? On a Saturday? What time(s)? I'm in the East Midlands region.

Photos by ScottMathew (including Class 91, 91114 at York)

Agreed. Don't see how anyone who really, really loves trains could say that any shot of one is "boring" !! Station shots, I think, are brilliant. So are videos of station arrivals/departures. As are passing shots and passing videos. So long as it's a train and the photo is good quality, then...

Hopefully these are better than the last few, I aim to get better with experience!

Which TOC has best and worst first class

Agree with the consensus here, if First Class means just sitting in a different part of the train with seats hardly any different to Standard (except maybe in colour) and no service different than Standard, then what's the point? You've paid the extra on your fare for nothing. Have only...

    Prototype HST/APT-E

Does anyone know where the APT Prototype HST (BR Class 252) is and also the APT-E tilting train is? I believe both are on display somewhere, is it Old Oak Common or NRM Shildon? As have seen on various websites it says both. Many thanks.

    Scotland day trip

Your pics are amongst the best I have ever seen; especially the pic of 91113, it's amazing! And the first pic of the platforms at York during night-time is stunning. Thanks for this thread, I really enjoyed very much !! :)

    Someone in your reserved seat

Has anyone here ever boarded a train only to find that someone was already sitting in their reserved seat? If so, did you say something to them and get them to move so you could sit in your seat, or did you bite your tongue and sit (or even stand) elsewhere? AND what is the best course of...

    Where to start?

Oh yeah, and my Facebook profile is now full of stuff about trains, where about a month ago it wasn't - I much prefer it this way, but I can't say nobody has noticed! ^ This is exactly the same as me. :)

    Favourite stations

Maybe a thread has been made in the past of this sort before, but what are your favourite stations? Mine, in no particular order, are as follows: Leeds York London St Pancras London King's X Leicester Peterborough Bedford Derby Nottingham I don't think by the way, that there is...

    Video: very enthusiastic American enthusiast.

This has made my night. Guess he just really loves his trains and feels really excited that he saw his favourite train, which he hasn't seen in a long time? Although he did kind of over-react....those kinds of noises.... they did sound a bit "wrong" shall we say :P

    Corby to Derby EMT service

pjnathanail, Yes the lack of service. Well not the lack of service in itself, but the fact that somebody could unknowingly buy a FC ticket for the train thinking they will get the FC service and all they have actually paid extra for is to sit in a different part of the train...and that's it. EMT...

    Corby to Derby EMT service

pjnathanail, that is ridiculous. You may as well just buy a Standard ticket and be able to sit in FC, if buying a FC ticket isn't going to get you anything different from Standard other than what part of the train you sit in. Did you do the 09:30 Corby to Derby train or the 16:35 Derby to St...

    Where to start?

@ trainophile, I saw those in WH Smith but didn't get them. Wish I had now. I am sure when you get DVD player set up, you will enjoy it.

That's rubbish then, I'm not doing it.

    Corby to Derby EMT service

Does anybody know if the 09:30 weekday service from Corby to Derby, worked by a Class 222 Meridian, has the First Class breakfast available? The timetable says there is not even a trolley service on that train; I did the journey a few weeks back and cannot remember if there was or not, so can't...

    MML HST "Neville Hill"

I always saw the HST with red name plate "Neville Hill" on it, working the St Pancras to Leeds service, or if it wasn't this one it was another HST. I never saw Neville Hill on any other service (say for example, St Pancras to Nottingham). I don't have with me an old MML timetable so can't check.

    MML HST "Neville Hill"

Can anyone tell me what number power car the former MML HST which was named the "Neville Hill" was? This train was named after the Neville Hill train depot in Leeds and usually (if not always?) ran the London St Pancras to Leeds (and Return leg) service stopping at Luton, Bedford...

    I collect rail tickets

I only take my own and at the end of my journey, when the ticket is no longer of any use or no longer required. I think potential fines would be given to "unauthorised removal" (ie. someone removing someone else's ticket and sitting in the seat). Actually I only have two at the moment, from...

    I collect rail tickets

@ Buffer68; I too keep and collect all my train tickets (unless a ticket barrier swallows a ticket and doesn't give me it back). Not sure I'd take anyone else's tickets though; and definately wouldn't part with mine as they are of sentimental value. Can I ask you though, do you have an old MML...
