If you confess they hold all the cards and can demand whatever they feel is reasonable that’s why.
So unless you want to hand over a wad of cash determined by the train company , don’t respond and buy the correct tickets.
Don’t say another word to them as they don’t have proof it was you without catching you in person (or a confession) and are highly unlikely to take you to court.
Start buying the correct tickets immediately.
They are unlikely to escalate it anywhere if they have no evidence it was you who used the tickets. At the moment if there’s scan data they know someone used it but not who. They are just looking for you to drop yourself in it and hand them a wad of cash. If you want to do this then go right...
Centrebus have posted the same post on all their Facebook pages. According to the public award document it is actually D&G who won the 64 , 301 and 558 tenders.
Bus Service Review 2026 details
Cheshire East Council did a network review in 2024 and D&G appear to do regular reviews of their services (often in conjunction with councils who fund many of their services to some degree) such as the ones mentioned on this thread on 30th March and 13th April.
I also recall a D&G review in...

The problem is it takes too long to get from Macclesfield to the Airport by bus. The train takes roughly 45 minutes subject to connections and stopping patterns. With all that padding that will arise in January , it’s just not attractive enough and the lack of buses outside 8-5 too.
I can see why they would want to drop Manchester Airport from the route to increase the layover / punctuality / reliability on the service and have also seen the very low usage on the 130 to the Airport but it is a shame that Cheshire East will be down to one rail service and no buses serving...

I’ve just been looking at the updated 10 Weston to Bollington timetable on bustimes and it is broadly the same as current with an every 35 minute - 40 minute service at peak times for reliability and an every 90-120 minute Sunday service.

10 - Sunday...
I have just travelled on the 393 bus and the bus driver was saying to someone that Belle Vue have won a 5 year contract , so D&G don’t have that (391/392/393).
There’s a notice at Stockport interchange and an email going round from the Bee app basically saying that from 5th Jan it’s bee bus for yellow buses and Anybus tickets for non-yellow buses but the 1 day Anybus tickets will only be available from bus drivers.
It looks as though Bee Bus tickets...
