The railways seem to be very over zealous about where passengers can and can’t walk on platforms these days - yes we know platforms are a risk but where has this new level of woken health and safety come from?
I’ve been asking TfGM for sometime to provide a bus service from Offerton Fold to Hazel Grove and happily they’ve obliged from right outside my doorstep.
If you have claimed a refund for half a ticket in line with Trainline rules and have not used the part that has been refunded then I don’t see why you need to reveal all those details of who have you a lift etc because it is up to them to provide solid evidence of your guilt.
There will be no...
I have to admit that whilst I am no fan of the Tory government - the railways needs to move on and embrace contactless tap in and tap off to replace TVM usage and paper tickets.
There’s no reason to use cash in this day and age.
Rangers and Rover tickets should move to e-tickets or be made...
I really hope that it doesn’t take until 2030 to roll out Contactless PAYG to Greater Manchester rail. 7 years is a long time for something that’s already well advanced down south.
So do they accept contactless payment now on the 392? I used to like paying £9.00 for 5 single tickets with Little Gem. I think towards the end it was about £7.50?
I was very surprised to see that D&G are providing 1 x vehicle to run a limited 375 Stepping Hill - Mellor service but no one actually bid to run the full service according to TfGM.
That is because CEC have been going through a process of revising subsidy criteria and therefore there was obviously positive dialogue between the Council and Go Goodwin’s - the service originally operated on the Go Goodwins licence before going over to Little Gem and the latest change was...
High Peak did try to pull out of the 199 past New Mills to Manchester Airport and see what the contractual offer would be from Derbyshire and TfGM but it clearly wasn’t favourable as they retained the daytime journeys commercially and even reinstated the evening journeys to the Airport with no...
I remember the discussions about clearance to Buxton - the main issue seemed to be Dove Holes tunnel and the risk of the Class 158 step hitting it due to limited clearance. They did some work on Eaves tunnel (certainly the area around it to reduce the landslide risk) and clearly the issue has...
Exactly so the majority of passengers won’t be commuters (especially on a Monday the quietest day of the railway week) and won’t want the hassle of taking all their luggage off the train.
I can’t see them scrapping the Class 379s especially if they’re going to the effort of moving them to said unnelectrified sidings rather than sending them straight to the scrapyard.
I’d personally rather just stay on the overcrowded train if it’s only like 12 minutes to Wakefield than wait for another train, which also might be short and busy.
I remember when I did the last train around the Oldham Loop Line and we went over a detonator to mark the occasion - I think half of Oldham would have heard it, I certainly did and the train was rammed with people toasting, chattering and marking the occasion with beers.
