Should car accidents have more prominent reporting?

That's actually workable too, unlike the earlier suggestion that would require a complete reworking of the legal system and probably also the invention of time travel. 1787063156 Just for clarity, are you suggesting that we have different speed limits depending on how "qualified" a driver is...

    Worst/best preservation liveries?

The first time it wore that livery (1990s) it was also renumbered 40445... another layer of "what if" if they'd fitted Electric Train Supply!

Should car accidents have more prominent reporting?

Lots of pedestrians are also oblivious to that one. Several times I've stopped to allow pedestrians across at junctions and roundabouts (when it's safe to do so), gestured clearly, and been met with a blank stare!

    West Yorkshire bus franchising

I've seen a few dotted about. Star Garage in Shelley (towards Huddersfield) on the B6116 (served by what is currently the Team Pennine Denby Darts D1 service from Huddersfield to Denby Dale) has had a green Weaver Network flag for a few weeks now. AIUI Huddersfield area is among the first to be...

    Loconundrum

A very odd routing the other day, had me travelling past the target station and doubling back... and as there was a direct service between my starting station and the target, I'm pretty sure the route suggested is not a permitted one!

Should car accidents have more prominent reporting?

That sort of information usually comes out later, and Police can't release that information if criminal proceedings are likely to follow.

    Older cars you have seen

I'll blame the silly fancy writing! When it initially drove past I thought "that looks French" but couldn't read the badging as anything other than Packard. Once my brain decided that's what it said, that was it! Looking again it's quite obviously Panhard on the front, so I was clearly just...

Huddersfield Sainsbury's was graced with the presence of this Packard on Monday afternoon (10th August): : Which rather overshadowed this Benz:

How would Selby (Great Heck accident) be different in 2026?

Modern safety features such as lane-keeping assist and driver-facing cameras almost certainly make an accident like Great Heck less likely to happen, and it's possible that had such a system existed at the time it may have alerted the driver that he was going off the road, prompting him to...

    Loconundrum

I got a bit lucky and made it in 3 guesses. Initially went the wrong direction from my cross-London transfer, but my next guess happened to be the target station. It helped that my second guess gave an additional clue.

    Loconundrum

Yeah, I think I was maybe suffering from "rail brain" (or "diagrammatic map brain") there! Was going through the archive again on my lunch break earlier, and finally got it to acknowledge the Penistone line... But only as part of a longer journey- for Sheffield or Meadowhall it insists on...

    Loconundrum

That's a very annoying gap in the game's routing, even more so than ignoring the Penistone line which is painfully slow. At least it does know the line exists, it's just that the only way to include it is to start at one of the intermediate stations. 1785951981 I haven't made that journey...

    Loconundrum

Even so, 50 minutes seems painfully slow for that journey... though if that's how long it takes in reality then it isn't a flaw with Loconundrum!

Thanks- there goes my evening! Having done a few of the early rounds, I'm a bit baffled by a 50 minute journey time for Peterborough to Stevenage!

That's odd, as for Kings Cross to Waterloo it uses the tube via Oxford Street!

    Loconundrum

Based on yesterday's puzzle, I can only assume there was a blockade on the Cross City line on the day the data was sourced- as it insisted on walking 15 minutes from Birmingham New Street to Five Ways which was the target station... I know New Street is grim, but not compared to walking for 15...

    Class 185s post-TRU

Not a stupid question. I suspect that the engines and fuel tanks are only a relatively small part of the overall weight. These units weren't built with weight-saving in mind because the core section of the route they were designed for doesn't have any differential speeds. At the time of ordering...

    Older cars you have seen

I don't think I've ever seen one on the road in the UK, but they were very popular as hire cars around the Med. Crete had loads of them. A few weeks back I saw this Mini convertible in Mirfield. The Rover 75 next to it doesn't quite qualify but has clearly been well loved!
