Most of the ones so far are just body overhaul. I suspect 449 being the same. As it was only refurbished internally around 5 years ago.

Only 6 have the new seats. All ex Scotrail. These are 156 447/9/65/78/85 and 496. Unit 485 is currently on loan to NH to cover additional diagrams along with a few others. Strangely 156416 which is based at NH seems to have made itself at home in the NE. And has been working out of Heaton for...

This and 417 were allocated to Heaton a couple of years ago. But didn't stay long. And were sent to to NH to join the rest of the ex EMR 156s at NH. In exchange came 156 420/3.

Looks like 156472 is out and about in the NE. Also noted. Now fitted with brighter LED lights.

Hi all, just seen a post on a FB page. Suggesting at least two of the stored 156s are heading to Wolverton. Somebody, suggesting to be stripped for spare parts. Anybody able to confirm this please. TIA.

Yes. It came from Scotrail last year. Already had the seats fitted. Just the Northern moquette was needed. Also has the seat grab handles finished in a darker Yellow. One other different feature is that it has sockets at the seats for phone chargers. 1764242727

Heaton has 478. This too, has the Ironing board seats.

Ex EMR, long term stored 156907 has arrived at Heaton. To be used as a source of spares.

Unit 420 is currently at Wolverton having bodywork repairs. Unit 402 has just come back from Brodies and is now at Heaton.

A welcome addition certainly. Heaton could do with more units. The Durham Coast line is rammed at weekends. Resulting in many passengers being left behind at the stations due to overcrowding.

Isn't 420 a Porterbrook unit? I thought it was only Angel units receiving C6 overhauls.
