    Former Submarine, class 156478 finally made its debut with Northern yesterday. Some 5 months since it arrived at Heaton depot from Brodies. It went for a runout to Whitby from Newcastle. Apparently mot seen service for 3 years. Hence the long time preparation period.

    As far as I know, only 415 of the ex EMR batch has worked in the NE in the last year. Did one trip up the DC earlier this year. But was removed at Newcastle and sent back to the NW.

    Only 156 416/7 went to the NE being based at Heaton. But have now been transfered to NH to be with the rest of the ex EMR units. Heaton got 420/3 in return. Pretty sure 156422 is a NH unit. It is highly unlikely you'll see any of those listed around the NE unless it's for maintenance reasons...
